A GRAND WELCOME

From the time it opened its doors in 1879, the Grand Hotel has lived up to its name. A one-of-a-kind building. An architectural treasure trove with the historic Grand Ballroom at its heart. And a beloved part of Birmingham’s fabric. Now undergone a £50 Million restoration from top to toe, it offers the best in modern service and hospitality in a setting where anything seems possible. With 185 rooms and suites, the hotel is an inspiring mix of French Renaissance, Victorian and Art Deco features, all crowned by a penthouse that give guests spectacular views over St. Philip’s Cathedral and the city beyond. Every corner has been designed for grand moments. From the magical rooftop garden terrace to the glamorous madeleine bar and Isaacs restaurant that captures the excitement and spirit of the city. Expect state-of the-art meeting rooms, welcoming boardrooms that set the scene for any event, and the Grand Ballroom to make every occasion historic. Welcome to a truly grand hotel.

The Grand Ballroom is a Louis XIV-style room that originally opened in 1895. This is an event space with genuine X-factor: original plaster mouldings have been restored; double-height ceilings provide a sense of grandeur; and there is ample room for banqueting and live entertainment under one roof.

Stayed here with a friend for one night. Could not fault any part of the service. Checking in was easy, bags were taken up to our room when it was ready. Room was very spacious with a really large bathroom. Service in the cocktail bar was very good and Sonny the waiter was wonderful. The icing on the cake was breakfast and the service team. They were very attentive. We did not have to ask for a second coffee or anything else very friendly and pleasant and the food was amazing. Will definitely return to this hotel.

Fantastic hotel, highly recommend!! I attended a work event and stayed for one night. We were mainly in the ballroom which was very grand and made the event feel more special. The staff were great. Really accommodating. They looked after my bags before my room was ready and after I checked out whilst the event was still ongoing. Everyone was really friendly. The rooms are very spacious, with lots of detailing, and it was very clean. The bathroom was spotless. There was even a yoga mat and complimentary chocolate. Not for everyone but nice small touches. They have a gym, which is small but has everything you need to do a simple workout. Treadmills, free weights and bench etc. It was a sponsored event, so I cannot comment on how worth it is in terms of the price, but I can say that it is a very nice hotel, especially for special occasions.

Stayed one Saturday night. Was a very pleasant surprise (I thought we were staying somewhere else). Beautiful grand staircase and comfy, modern, well equipped rooms. Friendly attentive staff. Had booked a table in the cocktail bar which was definitely a treat (aka expensive) and nice to have done. Enjoyed The Grand Hash Brown Benedict with mushrooms for breakfast.

Only been to the bar but it is stunning with many original features. Popped in for cocktails before a show. Staff extremely attentive and friendly. Attention to detail and developing new cocktails too.

The worst hotel experience in my UK trip so far. I took my 4 year old girl and arrived Birmingham from Wales. I booked 2 nights family room. But it got huge noise at the first night. The room is just facing the street. Someone broke the glasses on street. The room is tiny. Except the double bed and extra bed. Literally no more space. My girl didn’t have good sleep so we decide to check out early. I told the reception it didn’t meet our expectation. They said their reception team didn’t work in weekend and they will let me know by Monday. I was told on Monday I still need to be charged 2 nights because of late cancellation. Gosh.£ 512 for my one night stay. And including service and lunch. Totally over £ 700 for my bad one day experience here. The reservation team is just greedy. Have you ever considered the feeling of family traveler? Don’t recommend this hotel at all.
