A GRAND WELCOME

From the time it opened its doors in 1879, the Grand Hotel has lived up to its name. A one-of-a-kind building. An architectural treasure trove with the historic Grand Ballroom at its heart. And a beloved part of Birmingham’s fabric. Now undergone a £50 Million restoration from top to toe, it offers the best in modern service and hospitality in a setting where anything seems possible. With 185 rooms and suites, the hotel is an inspiring mix of French Renaissance, Victorian and Art Deco features, all crowned by a penthouse that give guests spectacular views over St. Philip’s Cathedral and the city beyond. Every corner has been designed for grand moments. From the magical rooftop garden terrace to the glamorous madeleine bar and Isaacs restaurant that captures the excitement and spirit of the city. Expect state-of the-art meeting rooms, welcoming boardrooms that set the scene for any event, and the Grand Ballroom to make every occasion historic. Welcome to a truly grand hotel.

The Grand Ballroom is a Louis XIV-style room that originally opened in 1895. This is an event space with genuine X-factor: original plaster mouldings have been restored; double-height ceilings provide a sense of grandeur; and there is ample room for banqueting and live entertainment under one roof.

Have stayed and visited this hotel several times and really impressed with the rooms and cleanliness in particular. On another note , Abdou, the concierge at this hotel, truly made our stay exceptional. From the moment we arrived, he greeted us with a warm smile and immediately offered to assist with our bags. Throughout our stay, Abdou was always ready to help, whether it was carrying our luggage or offering recommendations for local attractions. His friendly and professional demeanor made us feel right at home, and his attentiveness never went unnoticed. He’s a real asset to the hotel!

We stayed here the weekend before Christmas. The hotel was beautifully decorated, grand but also cosy. The room and facilities were lovely. A great building to admire. Service was quite slow and chaotic at breakfast, possibly due to how busy it was. The gym is a typical hotel gym. Not really enough if you're a dedicated gym goer. Will definitely stay here again.

First and foremost, the rooms were incredibly spacious and beautifully appointed. The attention to detail in the décor and layout created a truly luxurious atmosphere, making it feel more like a home than a hotel. The room came with thoughtful touches that made my stay even more special—a complimentary Twirl chocolate bar and an espresso machine, which I thoroughly enjoyed. These little extras really set the hotel apart. The location is ideal, just a short 7-minute walk from Birmingham New Street station, making it incredibly convenient for travelers. The staff were fantastic—friendly, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure a comfortable stay. From check-in to check-out, they made me feel welcome and well looked after. Finally, the bars at The Grand were absolutely lovely. The ambiance was perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring or attending meetings.

“I had an amazing stay at The Grand Hotel Birmingham! The blend of historic elegance and modern comfort is stunning. The staff were incredibly welcoming, the rooms were luxurious, and the location was perfect for exploring the city. Don’t miss the cocktails at Madeleine Bar—they’re top-notch!”

We stayed for one night in January, during a cold couple of day, and the hotel was warm and inviting from the moment we arrived. It felt quite luxurious, with a nice smell and ornate features. The staff were friendly, and we liked the good security for accessing the floors. Our room was a decent size, very clean, and well-styled. A thoughtful touch was the inclusion of a yoga mat. The TV was high-quality and positioned perfectly for to view from the bed - there was also a side table with two seats we could do a bit of work from. The bed was large and firm—perhaps a little too firm for me—but still comfortable overall. The complimentary bottled water and fresh milk for tea was appreciated. Breakfast was excellent, and the restaurant itself was beautifully designed. The hotel felt like a 5-star property, well-maintained and in excellent condition. For £160, including breakfast, I couldn’t fault the experience. The location is good too—upmarket, quiet, and just a short walk to the city centre. The hotel has a grand feel, offering a good balance of modern luxury and classic elegance and I'd definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in Birmingham.
