THE BALLROOM:
With an original hand painted ceiling and a beautiful grand chandelier, the Ballroom at Brocket Hall is the perfect location for your next special occasion.
The Ballroom is one of the most breathtaking rooms in the Hall. The guests of today live and breathe a history and elegance that has been prominent for centuries. Dating back to the start of the 1760’s, the Ballroom has always been a significant part of the Hall with the grand ceiling half of the expense of the whole House.
At 60 feet long, 30 feet across and ceilings of 30 feet high, the Ballroom is a room with both grandeur in scale and in decor. The leading subjects in the ceiling, which was painted by Sir Francis Wheatley, depicts the twelve signs of the Zodiac. The Chandelier is by Perrys of Whitefriars, who went bankrupt in 1768, the year the House was completed. The fireplace is a Robert Adam and the mirror frames are all Chippendale, both original to the House.
In 1784 the Prince of Wales presented a portrait of himself, by Sir Joshua Reynolds, to Lady Melbourne. A copy still hangs at the end of the Ballroom. It departs from traditional portraits of the period in that the hindquarters of the horse on which the Monarch leans are somewhat more prominent than contemporary taste dictated. The Prince of Wales is said to be expressing a certain resentment towards Lord Melbourne, of whose Wife he was romantically engaged with.
The scene of the historical moment when Lady Caroline Lamb introduced the Waltz to England – the first time dancing included any sort of touching – the room has no shortage of interesting tales and important events. Take the opportunity to dine on the Prime Minister’s Table which was installed by William Lamb in anticipation of his elevation to the highest office in the land. Local legend tells of one year when Lady Caroline served herself, naked, from a large tureen for her husband’s birthday!

THE BOARDROOM:
Available as a multi-functional space for our guests, the Boardroom is commonly used for meetings and conferences before being transformed into a truly special space for weddings. The Boardroom was traditionally used as servant quarters when the Hall was used as a private residence, whilst the toilets are in keeping with the past; they were the original wine cellars for the house and the toilets were designed to reflect this.
In addition to the Boardroom, we have adjoining space dedicated to hosting your meeting. The Warren Conference Suite includes three separate syndicate rooms for your privacy and comfort, and a breakout area in which to relax.
Once evening comes around, the Boardroom can transform into a stunning location for an evening reception, with the choice of a half or full length dance floor, easy access to a secluded garden terrace and the Boardroom bar, located in the Silver Room, named so because this is where the residents kept their silver collection.

THE LIBRARY:
Occupying the bayed-out west end of the Hall, the Library has stunning views across the Estate from the Paine Bridge down to Auberge du Lac. It boasts spectacular Chippendale bookshelves – one of two that were created by the renowned designer. The rams head conceal a secret panel that was used to keep the racier volumes in the collection away from prying eyes!
Now used for wedding ceremonies, meetings and intimate dining events, the Library offers a lot of natural daylight in a bright and airy room. The Library offers a slightly more intimate experience to that of the larger spaces in the house, making it ideal for small drinks receptions and private Afternoon Tea.
Perhaps one of the worst-kept secrets in the house, there is a not-so-secret door that provides access to the Ballroom. It is believed the blank space between the two rooms was designed so that the butlers could wait and appear immediately when summoned. The ceiling, like that in the drawing room, features a central painting roundel and painting reappears in the half circles at either end, while, in the corners elaborate wreathing frames slightly sunk panels each containing a tall figure in bas-relief.

The portrait by Hudson above the fireplace is Sir Matthew Lamb who was the builder of the house. Another portrait is Florence, the 1st Lady Brocket.

We had our wedding reception in The Oak Room at Brocket Hall. I cannot recommend it highly enough. The staff were exceptional from initial contact all the way through to the tidy up the day after. First class service, we felt very looked after. The food is also outstanding. Our guests were delighted by the menu and the quality of the food. I also think it important to mention that the price of having a reception in The Oak Room is comparatively reasonable! We found that having a teepee in a field would have been a lot more expensive, once you paid for all the extras they don't tell you about initially. Whereas this all inclusive deal turned out to be much cheaper, for much higher quality service and food. And a truly beautiful setting. Would recommend to all and any!

Palmerston Golf Course @ Brockett Hall provided us with a well manicured and a picturesque setting. The undulating and changing landscape provided us lots of fun and excitement during our game which we chose to walk. Highly recommended. Great course and country estate location only half an hour’s drive from north London

Fantastic venue for a golf event, two fabulous courses, of course hotel and all the facilities you would expect at an old house.

I had my wedding here and it was marred by a tragic incident involving a Brocket Hall staff member. To date, Brocket Hall has admitted no fault, and at no point apologised for events that unfolded that day. How they have handled the matter since then has only reaffirmed their lack of customer care, and compassion that one would reasonably expect of a prestigious wedding venue. If anyone is considering holding their wedding here and would like to hear more about our experience, then I'd be more than happy for you to reach out. Looking at the attached picture, I am reminded of Brocket Hall's Managing Director, who sent us a letter stating that "I do not believe that your celebration was materially affected by the tragic conduct of an individual." Brocket Hall's choice to refer to this person, a Brocket Hall employee, as merely "an individual" highlights their attempt to distance themselves from the incident and the reality of how severely it impacted our wedding day. The impersonal and detached language further reflects Brocket Hall's lack of accountability as the employer.
