Carlton George Hotel

This was our last of three hotels in Scotland, and it was the best, by far! Lovely staff at the desk, the executive lounge and stocked mini fridge were a plus, the room was comfortable with a big desk, the bathroom was good, and the rooftop restaurant was a great start to each day! Highly recommend, plus it's a 1 minute walk from the train station and it's nice and central!

I've stayed in many hotels, and this is one of the quirkier ones. Top floor restaurant and city centre location, free mini bar with whisky, gin and vodka in decanters in the room. Superb breakfast with a wide range on offer, freshly cooked and / or cooked to order, friendly and efficient service. So many positives... The negatives? Not many, the decor is a bit tired, as another reviewer noted, bur not desperately so. I personally found it comfortable and just right. Definitely a great night's sleep, no bangng doors etc... Lastly, sensible prices for a great city centre experience. I'll be back.

Rooms were spacious and clean but air exchange system was not working the whole time we were there. The room temperature was 24 all four days and was extremely uncomfortable. Great location. Close to train system and lots of restaurants and shopping. Restaurant on seventh floor was a wonderful place to eat breakfast well enjoying a great view of the city.
