What a lovely hotel this is, first time been here and will definitely be going back at some stage. Staff couldn't do any more to help and assist, all were very friendly. My wife uses a wheelchair to get about and this was so relaxing to get a room close, there was no stress ,plenty of peace and quiet. Car park area right outside and gardens and terrace area peaceful, Thoroughly enjoyed our stay until the next time, thank you David and Susanne Sowerby

This hotel is awesome. The rooms are spacious, the bathroom was huge, the facilities are amazing. I didn't expect to get free use of the pool etc. But tbf when I booked a standard room, I didn't expect to get such a big room. It's so relaxing, I didn't want to leave, I can't wait to go back.

My partner & I spent the weekend here for our anniversary, it was really nice. My partner booked it all & had the flowers on the bed & anniversary card sorted by the staff, which was so lovely for them to do it. The hotel was really pretty & our room was super nice, there was a bit of maintenance needed like on the ceilings & the walls but other than that everything about it was spot on. We didn’t had breakfast included because it was an extra £65 for two morning breakfasts for 2 people, it seemed liked an excessive price. My only slight complaint would be several of rooms might be in need of new beds & mattresses, maybe soundproof some rooms too, you could hear the nightly activities loud & clear😂

The hotel is in the middle of nowhere (although quite near Chester) so I guess this is a positive if you want a relaxing retreat. Loads of parking space. We found the main entrance mostly by “pure deduction” as the reception signage for reception is tiny when looking from the car park. It’s a bit of a maze inside the building and took us a bit too long to find our room with multiple fire doors on the way with no signs whatsoever. Once we found the room, it was very spacious and comfortable however, I couldn’t turn the heating on so we contacted reception to be told that at this time of the year they wouldn’t have it on because some guests find it too warm. That would be a solvable issue just turning the radiator off (it could be regulated to 1-5) and/or open a window. We were told there was an electric heater in the wardrobe that we could use. I though it would be pointless given the size of the room but I must say the temperature increase was noticeable and the device absolutely silent. However, the room above us had very creaking floor boards and it was pretty annoying every time anyone walked around so we were offered to move to a different room when it was available the following day. This one was even bigger than the first one and the bathroom much more modern, with separate shower and bathtub. Surprisingly, the radiator worked in this one. Our room was serviced the following morning and towels changed but the bed wasn’t made. Beds were very comfortable. No minibar or fridge. No water in the room (but fresh water by reception and spa area) Fluffy towels. Light is very poor both in the bathroom and the room itself. Dinner was ok although the restaurant lacked any ambience. Quite a choice for breakfast: bacon, sausages, eggs, beans… and toast, pastries, fruit, yogurt and different kind of cereal. Coffee was in a big thermos (as hot water) and wasn’t particularly good. Staff very kind and helpful (Catherine was particularly sweet). We visited the spa and gym. Spa is quite tired and no much space to seat (4 or 5 plastic deck chairs not very comfortable). Small steam room and sauna but I guess sufficient. Jacuzzi had several plastic racks missing and not all squirts worked but it was nice despite the amount of chlorine which made my eyes water. Changing rooms had lockers (no padlock needed) and hairdryers. Pool towels provided.

Nice venue just outside Chester. Went for a lunchtime birthday celebration in the conservatory went i believe they also hold weddings. Starter and dessert were lovely, main course was difficult to eat for most people, not because of the food, but everyone really required sharper steak knives( lamb). Pretty grounds and moderate amount of parking.
