Very nice hotel with a great bar/ restaurant on the top floor. The rooms are fairly nice although the carpet in our room looked grubby. Our aircon wasn't working, so I can only leave a four star for some parts. Otherwise, this hotel would have been graded five for everything. Mixed reviews about some of the staff, the reception manager was very nice and handled our problems very promptly and professionally. I can't say the same for the lady who checked us in, very unresponsive, and lacked knowledge or just went quiet when challenged. It's a nice hotel but could do with some more time being spent on the rooms being correct for paying customers. Good views from the bar and breakfast area.

Rooms are basic, carpets were disgusting, have what you need for an over night stay. Room air con is poor, fans were provided but was not enough to keep us comfortable. No showers gels, no hair caps, no hand soap, not enough milk for early morning coffee. Staff very friendly, breakfast was very good and worth the money.

Do not stay at this hotel. No air con in a boiling glass box and incredibly rude staff, I’ve not been spoken to like this ever. (EDIT: found out this hotel has gone into administration, no wonder the air con is broken and no one seems to care, still happy to take your money though) The room was so hot I had to sleep with wet towels on, the Air Con would not function at all. I was in a party of several rooms and all of them had the same problem. Hotel staff repeatedly lied, promising to sort the air con and then to supply fans but never did. We were not warned about the air con so had no chance to book elsewhere on one of the hottest days this year. The room was uninhabitably hot we got no sleep. In the morning our party made a complaint about the room in the hope of a small refund due to the complete lack of sleeping and I have never been so rudely spoken to in my life. The manager said “I am choosing not to speak to him” about myself after raising a perfectly calm and respectful complaint, and then refused to acknowledge our problems, admit any responsibility on behalf of the hotel or offer a reasonable refund. I appreciate that this is not directly the staff’s fault and we made this very clear when complaining that we did not blame them but it was made incredibly personal by the manager on duty. Had they been honest and open about the lack of AC we would have been happy with a small refund but the repeated lies and rudeness with a complete lack of accountability was unacceptable. I feel sorry for the people who have to work under these conditions because the management here are clearly refusing to deal with a complete lack of facilities and there staff are unequipped to deal with these issues. If you are looking for a place to stay near the Mailbox stay at the Mal Maison for the same price.

Please do not to stay at this hotel. Rooms are boiling hot. Check all other reviews as we all left a smiler review. We all had a bad experience at the hotel. They haven't fix the air con for months according to the reviews i read. Waste of money and experience at this hotel. Places like that needs to be shut down. Very unprofessional staff. If you fed up of Uk cold weather in winter due to cold and rain. This is a perfect place for you to enjoy the summer that we all miss.

Check in was efficient, receptionist was very pleasant. Got to our room & the heat inside was unbearable, it was a hot dry heat & felt like we were in an oven. An error message was flashing on the a/c panel so went back to reception. Asked if we could swap rooms but was advised that the hotel was full. Was told that they would reset the a/c & it would start working in 15-20 mins. The reset did not work. I checked on their website for availability & found rooms were available, so called reception to ask again for an alternative room. The story then changed & was then advised that all rooms were affected & maintenance were working on it but could not say when issue would be resolved. I was told if I didn’t want the room I could check out & get a full refund, not ideal as we needed to stay over for the night, but it was so bad we cancelled the room - This was the best decision we made. From this point our experience improved, by the time we got down to reception to check out, the receptionist had found a room at the Mal Maison hotel, he helped me reserve the room and promised to make sure our refund was processed. He is the only reason I felt comfortable giving a 1 star review, otherwise I wouldn’t want to give any stars. I was advised there was no manager on duty, so could not escalate my complaint This is obviously an on going problem as other reviews also report a/c problems. With so many people reporting the same issue, hotel management needs to start listening to their guests, to start supporting their staff & to take action.
