March 2025I know there are lots of reviews talking about bad service and while not all of the staff are excellent I’d just like to say the two gentlemen (one from reception and one who came to help at the room) who sorted out a room move for me on the 5th of March were completely excellent and I couldn’t have asked for better service! They completely turned a stressful day around and were efficient and friendly!

March 2025When I arrived there was no one on the reception desk. The room was 29 degrees, and you have NO control over your room temperature, housekeeping said use a (very noisy) fan to keep the room cool. Put the fan on, fell asleep and then woke up at 3 am as the room was now cold with a fan on... Absolutely zero point in staying in a hotel if your not comfortable and you get NO sleep. Location is good, decoration is very tired considering this place isn't that old. Won't be returning.

February 2025TL;DR: Fantastic location, non-existent service, cleaning is so-so, good luck getting your deposit back, and their rooms are degrading rapidly. Travel to Birmingham often for work and have stayed here many times over the past few years. While the service has never been great (empty front desk, yet phone line is non-existent?), the quality of the rooms has rapidly gone downhill in the last year or so. Upon entry they charge £50 that cannot be taken via contactless, and the last two visits I have had to call my bank a month later to have their pending transaction cancelled, because their phone-line does not work, it just dials out. During my last visit, the entire hotel did not have working heating, which is quite a big deal in winter, and looking at other reviews, this has been an issue for months. There was no notice anywhere prior to booking, and they still charge the same rate. The visit prior, television wasn't working and there were elevator problems. The views are either great (corner rooms & facing southside), or awful (tiny windows, half the room in shadows, etc..), and if you are unfortunate to get a room on the 23rd floor, or any of their balcony rooms, then everyone can see into your room very easily. Floor space also varies based luck, as does the bathroom facilities. Cleanliness of the room is okay, but still somewhat dirty. Daily cleaning does not take place unless you're lucky. Previously rooms would also have free cans of drink, water, coffee, tea, a pack of crisps, and a chocolate bar but this seems to no longer be the case.

March 2025Disgusting service. We complained about the noise in our room and after waiting what seemed an age to eventually speak to the manager we got refunded and basically kicked out at 9:30 at night! All we wanted was to exchange rooms which we were told on the phone we could when we called from the room but once we were in reception in our night clothes surrounded by our belongings ready to move room we were told it’s all been refunded and they aren’t offering us another room. Kicked out to walk through Birmingham in night ware tracking back to our car to come home. Absolutely disgusting
