Great hotel with an excellent, helpful staff! Reasonably priced (for a major city) as well. The staff here are way above your average hotel. Very nice and will go out of their way to help you with luggage. They also helped arrange transportation for us to and from the airport. We stayed for 2 nights and it was a great stay. We were in a recently upgraded wing of the hotel. It was very nice, clean and modern. The beds were very comfortable. It was the best night's sleep I had during my 10 day vacation in Europe. The only thing I did not like about the room was the shower. It was an open concept shower without a shower door. It was too open though and lots of water leaked out on the floor. The breakfast was very good. It was buffet style with lots of options. Great coffee and tea. The location is unbeatable. Located in Westminster, in a relatively quiet area across from a park. It is walking distance to lots of restaurants, shops and also the big tourist attractions - Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey. Highly recommend!

I went to the hotel to enjoy the afternoon tea. There were some sandwiches, scones and lemon cake. The red velvet cake was not so good. It was better if the tea was served in a dining room, not in the bar. In general the staff was very polite and the food was good.

Overall a very disappointing experience, right from the start. Lack of communication as to The Wellington and The Rochester amalgamation. If I had known this I would have chosen somewhere else to stay, as my previous experience at The Rochester had been substandard, whereas The Wellington, where I had thought I'd booked was amazing. May I add, this booking was made in person, via phone, not online, from Australia. Room was warm and bed comfy, however, the constant cooking smells thru the vent in the room were absolutely awfu!!! The shower temperature was also difficult to regulate. Front desk check in, officious and completely unwilling to meet my requested early check in, even thou this had been mentioned via email twice and by phone, (this was acknowledged upon booking) unless I was prepared to pay £20 per hour - 01100-1500 - for a MAYBE early check in. Luggage storage - waited 45mins upon return to Hotel at 1530 for our luggage . Food - dinner - restaurant cold, food not presented as per menu - meat tough (steak and pork)& when asked for steak knives, they were plonked on the table without comment - dinner staff appeared untrained and unapproachable. Breakfast - was lovely, warm room, informative staff, good selection of well cooked, well presented food. Check out, I was asked to pay for breakfast, which had already been paid for, our concerns regarding our stay acknowledged, however, based on my last two experiences at this hotel, one as part of a tour group and now individually, especially as this stay was a Christmas treat for myself and my Granddaughter, who I came to the UK to visit & who had travelled to London especially, I will not be staying at this hotel again.

I went here for high tea with 3 of my girlfriends and when we reached, they first couldn’t find our reservation. Then they made us sit in the lobby area instead of the restaurant which didn’t feel like a high tea ambiance. The food was good and the blueberry lime cake was my highlight. The servers were not well coordinated. They asked us for our reservation 3 times and for our email another 3 times during our stay there. It put us off a bit.

We recently had a disappointing afternoon tea experience. Firstly, the service was incredibly slow. We waited a lengthy 50 minutes for our afternoon tea to arrive, despite having to inquire about its whereabouts twice. We also had to proactively request a refill of tea. Secondly, the setting was less than ideal. We were seated in the hotel lobby, which was bustling with guests checking in and out, creating a noisy and distracting environment. Finally, the quality of the afternoon tea itself was underwhelming. The scones were surprisingly served without any strawberry jam, and we felt hesitant to ask for it due to the staff's apparent annoyance. Comparing our experience to photos of other guests' afternoon teas, it seems we were shortchanged on the selection of cakes. Overall, this was a poor afternoon tea experience. The slow service, subpar setting, and lackluster presentation left much to be desired.
