I stayed here for a short break with my girlfriend. Very nice hotel. We stayed in a junior double room and it was very spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Also it's in a great location. Only a short walk from plenty of places to eat. It's also in a quieter location than right in the centre. But, it is only about 20 mins walk from the Castle and the Royal Mile where there is lots to see and do. If you are planning a trip to Edinburgh then this is a good place to stay.

I recently stayed at Nira Caledonia in Edinburgh, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The check-in process was incredibly smooth, and even though we arrived at 10am, the staff kindly held onto our bags so we could explore the city. They even messaged us when our room was ready, which was a few hours before the usual check-in time. The room itself, complete with a hot tub, was beautifully decorated and felt incredibly cosy. It was the perfect spot to unwind after a day of sightseeing. We also requested additional coffee pods the next day, and to our surprise, they didn't charge us and gave us six extra pods – a lovely touch that truly reflected their hospitality. The breakfast was another highlight. It was cooked to perfection and offered incredible value for money. The entire stay was made even more special by the genuine warmth and attentiveness of the staff. I couldn't recommend Nira Caledonia highly enough. From the excellent service to the stunning room and delicious breakfast, it truly made our time in Edinburgh memorable.

We were very happy with our one night stay. The room was clean, attractive, comfortable and with good facilities, and its own sitting room. Whilst the bathroom was small, the shower was good. The welcome was friendly and the breakfast high quality. And the room had a fantastic view to the north. As well noted by others, the hotel consists of two premises - numbers 6 and 10 - which are not interconnected. The walk from No. 10 to No. 6 for breakfast is hardly an issue. The lack of a lift is also not a problem, although we did plan our comings and goings carefully to avoid unnecessary ascents of the 47 steps to the second floor. We will happily stay again if visiting Edinburgh.

I booked this hotel in preference to a larger Hilton as it was a small luxury hotel of the world. I was very disappointed. My part of the hotel had seen better days and is in dire need of a refurb. Wall paper in my room was damaged, carpet was frayed, an electrical extension lead was nailed to the wall, TV didn’t work and there was zero water pressure in the shower. No water bottle in the fridge and the breakfast standard was deffo no better than a Hilton where I stay a lot. Double bed was two single mattresses that we noticeably separate with an uncomfortable ridge. I wish I’d booked the Caledonia which was the same price. On the plus side the night porter was super helpful when I needed an early breakfast and the location in the Newtown is great.
