This Local parish hall, later town hall (1878) Grade II Listed currently repurposed as a community art centre and Hall to hire. An imposing Victorian building with an Edwardian extension adds to the lingering hubris and fin de siècle grandeur The interior retains some original period fabric. Always a locus for communal events; here both the suffragette, Emily Pankhurst and the fascist Oswald Mosley made public speeches and T.S.Elliot embarked on marriage. Film location for the Sixties kitchen -drama "Georgy Girl.”
