What a gorgeous find this was. We stayed here on the way back from the Lake District whilst visiting a friend. Lovely room and amazing choice at breakfast. Highly recommend this hotel.

We had the afternoon tea, it was superb. Soup was delicious, warm tasters, sandwiches, and cakes. Perfectly balanced between the sweet and savoury and also 2 homemade chocolates to finish.

Very atmospheric quiet hotel with lots of little nooks to investigate. The original rooms are tastefully decorated with antique furniture which adds to the luxury. We managed a cheeky peek at a few empty rooms, all beautiful. (can't comment on the new wing). Food suits varied tastes and budgets. Well stocked bar with a few unusual tipples. Perfect place for a tranquil break for a discerning couple. Ideal anniversary or occasion stay.

A quiet location set well away from the main road yet ideally located for travel into the centre as well as being close to the M65 for motorway access. My partner and I went to view it as a wedding venue and were really impressed with everything it had to offer as well as the friendliness of Lauren, who showed us around We were given lots of details during our tour and all questions were answered as well as being provided with an information pack, which answered questions we didn't even realise we wanted answering.

Beautiful looking building and grounds, but once you get inside you're met with grumpy staff, we were a very big party of people and so many of our rooms got mixed up. Rooms were OK, nothing that I'd consider negative but nothing really special. Even the bridal suite was small and cramped, however the bathroom for the bridal suite was about the same size as the actual room. I'd stay there again as maybe a couple but certainly wouldn't ever consider having a wedding there or even recommend it for a wedding.
