Magnificent. Built to show of their ostentatious wealth - and it doesn't fail! Superb architecture and impressive gardens. A shame about the modern art installations, completely out place. Ordinary cafe.

A beautiful place, well worth a visit. We were with a coach holiday and were only there for 2/3 hours, I could've spent the whole day there, the property and gardens were immaculate. The guides were friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. The food in the cafe was lovely too. I wanted to explore the grounds a bit more but we didn't have time..... maybe on another visit.

What a beautiful house .in the prettiest of settings. The grounds are immaculate inside the grand entrance. There is so much to see everywhere you look. There is something of interest. And plenty of guides in the rooms with an extraordinary amount of information about the rooms ask them to listen to the stories. A great place to visit 🙂

Firstly, the house looks amazing and is a marvellous part of history and the island. The area surrounding it is a majestic forest area and gardens. I had the pleasure of walking in from Rothesay, which gives it a totally different feel. The sun was shining, and the birds were chirping away. Understandably, most will be arriving by car or coach, but I highly recommend a visit. Even if history is not your thing, it's still worth it.
