This is my 3rd stay at this hotel this year. As you pull into the grounds of the hotel the gardens and hotel are breath taking. We were greeted by the lovely reception staff (Laura and Clare) who were very helpful. We had a beautiful meal on the Friday night and was served by the lovely Amelia. She served us with a smile and was very friendly. The spa was excellent and the grounds were beautiful. The best bit about this hotel is the breakfast. I would pay extra to have this breakfast. The choice is amazing the the blueberry muffins are to die for. We were served by Kristie who was lovely and a lady called Jane was on hand asking if we needed anything. The service is brilliant. I would highly recommend this hotel and it is worth the drive.

Our room was superb with plenty of space. Very clean and comfortable bed. The staff were very polite and helpful. Unfortunately on our first night we had a meal in their restaurant and had to wait nearly an hour to receive it and that was after we spoke to a waitress asking where it was. The risotto was rather bland and tasted like it had been standing around a bit and the texture wasn't soft. Breakfast was fine, nothing earth shattering.

Wouldn’t stay again. Great on the outside but very worn and dated on the inside. Room could do with a major refresh and smelt musty. The pool and changing area felt like a public pool. Hot tub was broken. It looked rather tired and not what I expected. Floors were very dirty and pool was freezing and packed. You also don’t get dressing gowns or slipper unless you are booked on a spa package so we had to get changed to walk back to our room. Restaurant, called to ask if we need to book the day before we arrived and the morning of arrival and we were told there would be no problem getting a table. We confirmed this when we checked in as it was busy. Turned up to dinner and they said they were full and to head to the bar. The bar was also full and were told we could eat outside if we couldn’t find a table….its SEPTEMBER and 13c, and we have a baby with us. Eventually we moved the tables around ourselves to seat 6 and then told half of what we ordered is sold out.

Visited Dunston Hall last Sunday for a baby shower, on approach it is stunning so I had high expectations of my £30.00 afternoon tea but was left very disappointed!! It was a beautiful afternoon so we met outside in the garden, we had a 2pm booking, we were taken to our tables at 2.10 and ordered our choice of drinks we waited a while for these to be brought out to us then waited a good while longer for the food, this eventually arrived at 2.50 a selection of sorry sandwiches and a few savoury bits, once we had finished these we had to wait until gone 4pm for the scones and sweet cakes came out by which time 4 of our party had to leave!!! Kayleigh our waitress was very nice and she tried her best but clearly the kitchen needs to sort itself out!! We had no explanation or apology for the poor service and in my opinion the food was not worth the £30.00 we paid! I would not return and I would not recommend. If you can't cope with afternoon teas don't take the booking.

My girlfriend and I visited the spa for a birthday treat, at a costly price of £240. Upon entrance it seemed great and the spa team were lovely. The facilities however are diabolical, the jacuzzi was out of order which we should’ve been told about before coming, the steam room was filthy with brown mould and wasn’t hot. The sauna was stone cold and couldn’t get warm. The pool is okay. It’s been a shambles and the lunch menu given with the package is terrible. Would steer very clear of this for a spa day, visit elsewhere like centre parcs. Will be asking for a part refund as the massage was lovely. I cannot speak about the rooms of the hotel as I’ve heard they’re lovely, the service was okay. Spa was awful
