Absolutely brilliant! Rooms are comfortable and well-appointed. Bar is lovely. Breakfast is great with real quality ingredients. Loved the little ginger shots to wake you up. Customer service was second to none. Location is excellent and in walking distance of most places in Manchester. Right next to the train station and the theatre. Cannot recommend this place enough

Called for a drink today. Staff were excellent and the building is beautiful and very grand, however, the atmosphere is chilled and welcoming. I left without my bag, returning later to find it safely behind reception. I offered to reward the member of staff for its return, but they wouldn't hear of it. Excellent service!

Amazing hotel ,beautifully restored old building. The interior is absolutely stunning. The staff are so kind, friendly and helpful. Beautiful room, spotlessly clean and very comfortable bed. Breakfast was gorgeous too, fresh and healthy. Highly recommended.

A few of us called into this hotel. As my reader may know, this building was the home of yhe Refuge Insurance company. They left Manchester for leafy Cheshire, and the building was converted into a hotel. It's worth taking the time to call in for a drink just to admire the beauty of the room. Fabulous tiles. Must have cost a fortune in its construction. The beer isn't the cheapest in the city but to be fair the surroundings are very impressive. We went in the mid- afternoon and it was fairly quiet, it certainly livened up around 4.30. Well worth a visit if only to admire the opulence of the bar room.

Stunning bar, reception and restaurant areas and large, comfortable, clean room made for a lovely one-night stay for a special occasion. I’ve deducted one star on the basis that breakfast seemed steeply priced compared to other experiences at hotels of a similar calibre - we went out instead. Would also like to suggest that providing two caramel wafers in a double room might go down better than one!!
