We had Sunday lunch at the George using a Greene King gift card that was given to us as a wedding present. Lucy was our waitress and provided great service from start to finish; she was friendly, attentive and professional. The George has all the charm of a traditional English pub, with a cosy, Dickensian feel. It’s hard to believe it is right off Borough High St. We both had a roast (1 nut roast, 1 sirloin) and the portions were very generous. The food was well cooked and beautifully presented. The only potential point for improvement was temperature - the food was warm but not piping hot. Overall, though, we had a great experience and would recommend this spot.

Great historical pub with an abundance of atmosphere. Lots of charming features. Food was delicious, good choice of ales on offer. We had Dean looking after, he offered a great service, knowledgeable with the menu. Helpful and attentive. Thanks Dean for making our first trip a good memory - we will certainly be back... Lauren who also served us towards the end of the meal was polite and offered good customer service

Have been here many times. Great atmosphere in the evenings. Today we booked a table upstairs. Strange atmosphere as we arrived 15 minutes early for our table but had to wait 15 minutes before we were asked what we would like to drink. The toilets were closed so we had to walk downstairs and to the far end of the building to use the public bars toilet. Food was lovely. Staff were very friendly and would definitely use it again.

Been meaning to come for some times. Pros; visually very impressive. Love a historic pub. It is a beautiful place steeped in History. Pea soup was actually very pleasant; pick of the three food options we went for Cons; pricy for what it was. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised for quite a touristic place but I thought £4 for a half pint was on the steep side. The other pint I had was not a full pint. I suppose I could have complained about a short measure and got the full measure. Glad I've been but not sure I'd be in a hurry to return. Other historic pubs I've preferred. Service was okay, but not more than that. Not rude but not especially friendly. Didn't stay in the hotel so can't comment.

We were a large table and ate upstairs in the gallery so had table service. The front of house staff were excellent and the service was great all night. The food was mixed in terms of quality and very poor value for money. I had the house burger which was £18.45. The burger was dry, burnt, and overcooked. The burger was a good size but only came with a small bucket of fruits. My partner had the Duck Hash which tasted very nice and was very soft and moist. However it had a bit of plastic in it which was presumably from the plastic packaging the food came in from the off-site production kitchen. My beer glass also had a sharp chip in the top which could have cut my lips.
