The only way into Eight Club Moorgate’s digs is via a speedy penthouse lift, which elevates members and event guests above the City bustle.
At the top, you’ll find a roomy two-floor club that fuses views with the dark wood and textured glass one would expect from a scene in Mad Men. In contrast to its subterranean sibling near Bank station, this venue comprises a series of light, bright spaces (including two terraces) that make a handsome setting for events, be it a meeting, private dinner or cocktail party.
For the former, look first to the Library Room, which has floor-to-ceiling windows, book-lined walls and chesterfield sofas.
The six-storey City venue has set up its fifth and sixth floors – including rooftop terraces – for wedding parties. With a full marriage licence, the nuptial day can begin with a ceremony on the top floor, then a lunch or dinner reception for up to 100 guests in the fifth-floor restaurant, before the party continues upstairs in the 200-capacity members’ lounge, which is easily turned into a club with a 3am licence. The terraces are fully furnished with lounge furniture and tables – as well as heaters. Eight Moorgate’s events team can recommend everyone from florists to wedding transport specialists and the house tailor.

Was a member here for a couple of years. The space is nice enough and well located. The food is OK but a little limited upstairs in the club (along with the selection of drinks). You can go to the main restaurant which is quite good. The gym, which is included in the membership, is by far the best part about it. Well kitted out and never busy. Really nice space. My main issue was that the club was often very busy (only 8 hot desking spots) with the rest of the seating areas unsuitable for using a laptop. The club isn't open on weekends, which is annoying! It's very difficult getting a meeting room at times. And one thing that really got my back up was that members can, without notice, be told they have to leave if the space has been hired for a private event!
