The Carlton Tavern, a century-old pub located near Paddington Recreation ground in Maida Vale, has a rich history. It was here that Roger Bannister famously trained to break the 4-minute mile. Despite surviving the Blitz during World War II, the pub faced an unfortunate fate in 2015 when property developers illegally demolished it. However, thanks to a dedicated campaign by the local community and Westminster council that spanned over 5 years, the pub was painstakingly reconstructed to match its original design, thanks to the efforts of local architect Francis J. Potter.
As of 2021, the Carlton Tavern has been rejuvenated and reopened, ready to serve the community with quality ales and delicious food for the next century. We offer a pub, dining room, and a charming beer garden for your enjoyment. We eagerly look forward to welcoming you, whether you're dropping by for a quick drink or a three-course meal, or anything in between.

Easily one of the best run boozers in London. Classic. Wonderful food (best pub grub in town, hands down) and brilliant regular live music nights, supporting upcoming acts from all over the country.
