January 2025I want to give this service no star but the customer service advisor was so nice and for that reason I would give a 3 star. I had the worst experience on a train ever . I have never been one to see events as racially motivated as I often give ppl Grace but in this event there’s no other valid explanation as to why the person checking the tickets would walk up to me specifically ask to see my ticket , REFUSE to look at the said ticket, CONVINCE himself that the said ticket is INVALID and proceed to issue a new ticket as an OPEN return ticket . I couldn’t believe what had just happened . He kept saying “you ppl” “your kind” I got to my destination and reported at the desk office and they couldn’t believe what they were hearing me say and apologized and gave me the email to the customer service . I forwarded my ticket and the new ticket to the LNER customer service and on Train Pal where I had gotten it and they apologized and refunded me after a couple of days . The Trains are very aesthetically pleasing, it does run late but the staffs generally have been very nice and polite but this one experience has given me such a bad feeling it’s so bad that even if I need to be at a place at a particular time and LNER is available I wait for Northern or Transpenine . I am literally so uncomfortable at the thought of using them again. Maybe one day I will get over it but for now I would rather avoid it.
