We thoroughly enjoyed our performance at the Globe. The theater's design is a wonderful recreation of how the plays were performed in Shakespeare's time. During our early October performance, the weather changed from sunny to rainy to cloudy and the actors carried on. If you buy standing room only tickets, be prepared for showers. We sat in the balcony, so we were protected (even in the first row) but the audience members below had to quickly don raingear. The performance of Comedy of Errors was tremendous fun. The actors projected the right level of exuberance and drama to give the play its due. The only caution is that the benches are hard wood so spending the extra pounds on a seat cushion rental is well worth it. And dress for the weather. The theater is near the river, so it can be a little colder than you might expect

Shakespeare's Globe is a must visit on any London itinerary. It's a replica of the old Globe Theatre from Shakespeare's time with the addition of a number of modern comforts; clean toilets, bars and a well stocked gift shop. The venue has a wide range of seating options or you can stand (but beware rain!) in the middle for next to no money. We sat on the sides which are covered as hence sheltered from the elements where prices start at £15, so still pretty reasonable for London theatres. The benches can be a little uncomfortable so you can either bring a cushion or hire one at £3 a pop. We saw Essex Princess which wasn't Shakespeare but an excellent play which I cannot recommend highly enough. Last call to all the excellent volunteers who help out...they do a great job and are super lovely.

My family and I were in London for just 2 days, and we decided that The Globe had to be on the list. Originally, we were planning to see a show, but when we saw there was a Queer History Tour option, we went for that. Our tour guide, Leah, was phenomenal. She was well prepared, funny, and knowledgeable. I love how she treated queerness through a historical lens and was able to articulate something so personal and charged with such grace and care. I had a smile on my face the whole time. If you're nearby, I highly recommend this tour.

The Globe Theatre in London is a remarkable venue that beautifully intertwines history and modern theatrical artistry, making it a must-visit destination for anyone interested in Shakespearean drama. Our recent experience watching "King Henry V" was nothing short of extraordinary, made even more special by the unique backdrop of this iconic theatre, which replicates the original Globe built in 1599 by Shakespeare’s playing company, the Lord Chamberlain's Men. As we approached The Globe, the striking timber-framed structure immediately captured our attention. The open-air design and circular shape evoke the ambiance of Elizabethan theatre, allowing for a deep connection with both the performance and the surrounding environment. The theatre’s layout, reminiscent of its historical roots, features a vibrant pit where audience members can feel close to the action, much like the lively crowds of Shakespeare’s time. The performance of "King Henry V" was masterfully executed, showcasing the exceptional talent of the cast. The actors brought Shakespeare’s language to life with energy and passion, making the complex themes of leadership, honor, and camaraderie resonate with modern audiences. The staging was inventive, utilizing the space creatively to enhance the storytelling, and the live music added an extra layer of depth to the experience, reminiscent of the dynamic performances that captivated Elizabethan audiences. One of the standout aspects of The Globe is its commitment to maintaining an authentic atmosphere. The use of period costumes and minimalistic set design allowed the audience to focus on the text and the performances. The central stage, exposed to the elements, along with the natural light streaming in, created an enchanting ambiance that transported us back in time, much like the original Globe did for its spectators. The staff at The Globe were friendly and helpful, ensuring that our visit was enjoyable from start to finish. The availability of refreshments and snacks added to the overall experience, creating a relaxed environment that encouraged us to savor the moment while enjoying the performance. In summary, The Globe Theatre is an exceptional venue that offers a unique blend of history, culture, and artistry. Watching "King Henry V" there was a memorable experience that highlighted the power of live theatre, all while being surrounded by the rich legacy of Shakespeare's work. If you’re a fan of Shakespeare or simply looking for an engaging cultural experience in London, The Globe should definitely be at the top of your list. The combination of stunning performances, the enchanting setting, and the historical significance makes it a truly unforgettable destination.

Tour group was small and the guide was very fun and knowledgeable. A good experience being able to see the theater from different vantages. At the end we were sent to the exhibit area on our own and I would certainly do that as it was well done. There were actors rehearsing when we were there so we were not allowed to take pictures with any actor in it. This was a fun experience, but did limit the photo opportunities. It would be nice if there was some way to know ahead of time.
