Set in the immense vaults beneath The Royal Exchange, The Libertine is the new home of indulgence in the heart of the city. Sitting on the site where the very first royal alcohol licence in Britain was granted, the space is steeped in hedonism and mischief.

The bustle and opportunity around the old Royal Exchange, built in 1571, attracted merchant, heralds and rogues from across the city and beyond. Once the day’s work was done (and often before), the assembled traders would partake of boisterous ‘tippling’ in the vaults under the Exchange.

The Libertine is a modern revival of those free spirited times, with spaces for drinking, dining and unwinding well into the night, away from prudish prying eyes.

With it’s own booth seating and room for up to 150 guests, our semi-private bar space is the perfect place for all manner of parties and celebrations. Enjoy the atmosphere of the whole venue from the comfort of a private area, complete with your own dedicated bar and service team.

Called in for Sunday lunch last month, and this place certainly didn’t disappoint. Exceptionally personable staff, charismatic, polished and atmospherically warm dining room, and one of the best roasts I’ve had. The beef was beautifully rare (a rarity in its own right to get it done properly). Great wine selection. Highly recommend booking a table if you want a satisfying roast.

Came here for my birthday dinner, brilliant experience would definitely come back the food was phenomenal. Antonio in particular was great at making sure to fulfil a few requests we had, what a lovely down to earth man, he truly went out of his way to make sure we had enjoyed every bit. Already booking the next visit

Super kind people to serve, special atmosphere but what loved most about this restaurant is amazing dishes. I went to have dinner with my boss. He ordered kind of signature menu like Libertine Seafood (please correct me if I was wrong about the name of menu) and I ordered Wagyu Burger. My boss absolutely felt satisfied and happy with the dish! And, my burger was gone right after it was served to me... where was my burger gone in a second?? Apparently, my stomach. One of the best burger I have ever had before! Highly recommend! Please note that you should make reservation because it is a very popular restaurant! Will revisit if I come to London next time! ps. I came across I lost my beanie with the logo "Bloomenergy". I guess I left it over there. Can you please check out your lost and found and let me know?

Went on a Sunday for a birthday lunch. The food and service is fantastic and the staff are extremely helpful. My big frustration is the atmosphere. The restaurant is located underground so has low brick ceilings. Sound reverberates around the place very easily. There is little to no sound proofing or dampening anywhere. Just like every other dining establishment they insist on playing music constantly. This causes everyone to speak at higher volumes which creates more noise and another raise in volume that is echoed around the venue. We were also seated next to a party of about 20 who really should have been asked to book the venues private dining instead of creating even more noise. Due to it being underground it is also quite cold. We were a table of four and three courses plus a bottle of wine and service charge was £250. We felt this was good value although a couple of the dishes could have been better. The star of the show was the beef roast which was fantastic. The chicken lollipops were quite basic and not with the theme of the restaurant in terms of quality. The desserts were all very nice and well portioned. The part that made this four and not three stars is the service from the staff. A really fantastic group who were happy to move us away from the noisy party and friendly throughout.
