December 2024I visited with friends for the Christmas meal, castle visit and lights. I'd highly recommend Hever Castle as a magical place to visit, especially just before Christmas. The meal was excellent and great value. The service was exceptional. The history of the castle is interesting and well presented. The rooms are resplendent in their historical presentation as well as their Christmas decorations, particularly with the abundance of stunning Christmas trees adorning most rooms. One room in particular really provided the 'wow factor'. The gardens are beautiful all year round, but really impressed with the stunning lights shows and lasers. The gift shop is well stocked and not too bad price wise. All in all a really great day out.

February 2025We’ve visited Hever Castle multiple times over the years, and it never fails to impress. Whether you’re a history lover, a garden enthusiast, or just looking for a peaceful day out, this stunning Tudor castle and its breathtaking grounds offer something for everyone. The Castle Steeped in history, Hever Castle was once the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, Henry VIII’s second wife. The interiors are beautifully preserved, with richly decorated Tudor paneling, historic tapestries, and an impressive collection of antiques and portraits. The castle gives a real sense of stepping back in time, with informative displays that bring its fascinating past to life. The Gardens One of our favorite parts of Hever is its spectacular gardens, which are worth the visit alone. The Italian Garden is beautifully designed, with classical statues and water features, while the Rose Garden bursts with color and fragrance in the summer. For a truly relaxing experience, we love taking a blanket and reading a book in the Sunken Garden—it’s a peaceful little hideaway. The Water Maze is always great fun, especially on warm days when you don’t mind getting a little wet! There’s also a more traditional yew maze, which adds to the charm. Food & Drink The coffee shop serves excellent cakes, and the afternoon tea is a real treat. On a sunny day, there’s nothing better than sitting outside with a coffee and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Visitor Information • Opening Times: Generally open from 10:30 am – 6:00 pm, but hours vary seasonally, so check their website before visiting. • Tickets: £19.55 for castle & gardens, £14.85 for gardens only (cheaper if booked online in advance). • Location: Easily accessible from London, about 40 minutes by train from Victoria to Hever Station, followed by a short walk. Whether you’re exploring the historic rooms, wandering through the gardens, or just enjoying a peaceful moment by the lake, Hever Castle is a fantastic day out that we always look forward to revisiting. Highly recommended!

March 2025You arrive by train and it seems like you have gone back in time. The walk to the castle is beautiful and you pass through a sheep field. The castle and the gardens are very beautiful, the atmosphere is truly suggestive. Very kind staff.

March 2025Too early for flowers except daffs but it was an absolutely clear spring morning and the Italianate garden was magical. The castle is great and the costumes from The Mirror and the Light so gorgeous. There seems to be more rooms open than we’ve seen before. There’s a display of miniature houses in the main shop which is incredible, the interiors and dioramas are so realistic. Not cheap to get in though, but a guide told us you can leave the castle to have some lunch (the restaurant is very good) or whatever and go back round the castle again after.

February 2025We visited Herve Castle and Gardens this past weekend and had a fantastic time, despite the chilly weather. The Snowdrops Walk was absolutely lovely, creating a magical atmosphere as we wandered through the grounds. The castle itself is interesting and full of history, making it a great place to explore. What made the visit even more special were the activities for children, including seed planting and face painting, which added a fun, interactive element for the little ones. The gardens are stunning, with a beautiful maze and elegant Italian gardens that are well worth seeing. We’re already looking forward to visiting again when the weather is warmer to fully enjoy everything this place has to offer. Highly recommend for a family day out or a peaceful walk in gorgeous surroundings!
