A beautiful estate well worth the visit. The drive up from our previous night's stop in York was a pleasant view alone. Our meal was enjoyable & faultless. All the staff we experienced were helpful & friendly. The only complaint I have is the cost of cocktails when they actually come pre-made from a bottle, rather than made by hand.

It's an amazing place tucked away in the rural countryside. The mix of old and new is seamless. The rooms were all well-appointed and the staff were all lovely. We didn't have time to use the spa facilities, but they looked top-notch, and I would love to come back again.

Lovely stay at Slaley as usual. Food in the Claret Jug was great quality, staff were lovely and a big thanks for all your help and information Tom P in the main lounge bar area. It’s such a lovely relaxing break every time we go. The gym is excellent with every bit of quality equipment you’ll ever need. Most hotels don’t have anything like this. This stay we got a great Wowcher deal, normally we still get a great deal and lovely room direct from the hotel. Looking forward to next time.

Stayed as part of a winter golf and stay. £115 for two rounds of golf, dinner bed and breakfast. We stayed beginning of December, all greens in play, really good condition, fairways pretty good and just a few places wet. Hotel really quiet, food was really nice and a good selection well within your £32 allowance for evening meal.

Booked for 2 nights and arrived on a busy Friday evening. Young lady on reception got the job done but was not very welcoming or chatty! Found room after quite a long walk (a map would have been helpful as the place is huge) and room was OK but nothing special. Net curtains mouldy and also mould at top of window frame. Got changed and went to the bar for a drink before dinner. Two members of staff preparing drinks for restaurant orders and neither said a word while we waited. Eventually got our very expensive drinks and there was no char from the bar staff. We had booked the the restaurant for 8pm and so headed down there and we were shown to a table. Restaurant is a very big area, busy and bright and reminded us of a Premier Inn! Staff rushing around and we asked for water when we ordered by never got it! Starters came very quick but mains took forever?! I had the fish and chips which was edible but not hot and my partner had the burger with was virtually cold! Ordered a beer and eventually got it just before we paid and left! Back to the bar which was fairly busy but not heaving. Glasses on just about all of the tables and obviously not enough staff to clear them and wipe down tables. Group of golfers came in and were extremely loud and really quite rude so we left and heading back to our room. Breakfast on Saturday morning was just as hectic in the restaurant and not a relaxing way to start the day! Not enough staff again and restaurant manager dropped a huge tray of plates because he was obviously rushing to clear tables! We booked to go quad biking in the afternoon and that was excellent! Would definitely recommend that. Went to the bar for a drink afterwards around 4pm and the tables were once again covered in glasses and plates from lunch. There were groups of people in some of the smaller side rooms having afternoon tea, and when we came back down at 7pm these rooms hadn't been cleared and looked a mess. Food was much better on Saturday night but service not great and twice we asked for water and eventually got it towards the end of the meal ! Would we return? Probably not! Would we recommend? Definitely not! Sorry guys but you advertise Slayley as 4 star but the service is far from it! Not enough staff and the ones that are running the bar and restaurant are rushed of their feet and look sick of their life's! Really glad we haven't planned to get married there next year!!
