Just two miles north-west of Winchester, Lainston House is a breathtakingly beautiful 17th Century country house nestling in 63 acres of stunning Hampshire countryside. As you turn into the long, sweeping, tree-lined drive, you are immediately transported to a world far away from the hustle and bustle of every day life.
Delicate archways and loggias frame the picture perfect entrance and a small amble reveals a beautiful 12th century chapel ruin. With the mile-long avenue of lime trees as a backdrop there are stunning photo opportunities all year round.
Fully licensed to conduct civil ceremonies and partnerships, you can exchange your vows as well as have your wedding reception with us – and with the Hampshire Chef of the Year at your disposal, you can be sure to enjoy exquisite cuisine.
For a wedding in the warmer months, picture guests sipping bubbly and savouring delicious canapés on the rolling lawns and terraces or if it’s a winter wedding, guests can mingle in the perfectly appointed Drawing Room or Dawley Barn sipping mulled wine and enjoying the cosy opulence of the hotel.
All of our rooms and suites are individually designed so no two are the same – and if you are excited by the idea of your very own country house, Lainston House can be reserved on an “Exclusive Use” basis.

Our largest meeting space, the original 17th century Dawley Barn has been elegantly converted into a unique private room.

We recently celebrated our wedding at Lainston House in Winchester, and it was the perfect setting for our special day. The stunning location provided a beautiful backdrop, and from start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. A huge thank you to the wedding planning team, who were absolutely superb in helping us plan every detail of our big day. Special thanks to Michelle Cocksedge, whose patience and meticulous attention to detail made the entire process smooth and stress-free. We couldn’t have done it without her! On the day itself, Ben was incredible in leading the proceedings. His helpfulness, combined with his great sense of humor, kept our nerves in check, and he truly made the day even more enjoyable. We are so grateful for his support. The entire day was just magic - from the beautiful ceremony to the fantastic food and drink. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. Thank you again to the whole team at Lainston House for making our wedding unforgettable!

Stunning setting and beautiful hotel. If you like a traditional manor house then this is the place for you. The staff are extremely hospitable and can't do enough for you. The rooms are traditional and have molton brown toiletries. The grounds are vast and great for a walk. The breakfast and afternoon tea is delicious. Lainston is one of my favourite hotels.

Spent a weekend at Lainston House and would thoroughly recommend. The room itself was very good with nice views down the grounds. Eat one night at the Wellhouse and had the Chef's Table at the Avenue the second night. Both very good, though the Chef's table was definitely special. As a note my partner has a number of allergies and both restaurants coped without issue, though was especially impressed with the Chef's table where they did a bespoke tasting menu. Overall for the quality of service the hotel offers and standard of rooms highly recommended.

We recently had our wedding at Lainston House, and it was absolutely perfect from start to finish! The venue is stunning, with beautiful surroundings that made for an unforgettable backdrop to our special day. The staff went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly, making us feel truly cared for throughout the entire process. The hotel accommodation was fantastic as well—comfortable, luxurious, and ideal for both us and our guests. The attention to detail, from the wedding planning to the catering, was flawless. Our guests are still raving about the food and the overall atmosphere!

We had a wonderful stay at Lainston House. All of the staff could not have been more friendly and accommodating. A special mention needs to go to Tom Hamblet in the Avenue restaurant. The food was divine and one of the best meals we have had in a long time. Totally delicious and divine. Definitely 5 stars.
