We had the afternoon tea for four. The food was so fresh, delicious and the staff were so friendly. Such a calm atmosphere, would definitely go again and very much worth the money

Had a lovely long weekend stay at Forest Lodge Hotel. Perfect location for visiting the New Forest. Rooms are spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. Staff were super helpful and very friendly, and couldn't do enough to make sure our group of 17 people had a fab time. Great food too; fab breakfasts with plenty of choice. All meals hot, beautifully cooked, and presented. Would definitely stay again, and highly recommend.

Promising but ultimately disappointing. When we arrived it looked great, staff seemed friendly but when we asked about room service we were made to feel like it would be an inconvenience, when met with the reply, well we have to offer it. We got to our room and the there was an overpowering smell of mildew which came from the bathroom. The rest of the room appeared quite dated, old furniture and black mould on the windows. The child bunk beds were splintered and the ladder was not great either. The bathroom, as well as smelling, was showing it's age, cracked paintwork, damaged furniture exposed wires etc. For breakfast on the first day we booked 8.30 but food didn't arrive until around 9.20. There was no black pudding, the bacon was tough and felt like it had been sat under a hot lamp for a while, the mushroom and tomato tasted like they had been cooked in vinegar and the eggs, poached, were rock hard and black. I was offered new eggs but we had waited so long and needed to be out the door. We skipped dinner the second night and ate at the pub next door as food hadn't been great. The second night the fire alarm went off at 1.30am and this was a false alarm, set off by the cleaners apparently, but what they were cleaning at that time in the morning I don't know. The fire bell was an old fire bell placed above the kids bed so it was rather distressing and not much more sleep was had. We tried to book in for another 8.30 breakfast on the day of departure but we're told 9.15 was the only one we could have. When we went down we were told we should have come at 8.30. We skipped the cooked breakfast and just had the continental. We stayed here to visit Paulton's Park during half term, won't be going back. It was just a calamity from start to finish. We were offered some money off our room service but they wouldn't address the room rate as we had booked a deal indirectly. We have received since an offer of a 2 night stay at 50% but I feel this is a bit of a hollow gesture as I have no need to go back and if I did, I wouldn't be rushing back here.

This hotel claims a 4* rating, this however cannot be correct. We received a 1* star break and won't be booking from this chain again. We booked for 3 days and paid extra for a grand deluxe/superior room Upon arrival the room was adequate if a little tired. The bathroom looked good however the hot tap and shower were broken - although these were tightened up. However, the water temperature remained tepid throughout our stay and the pressure meant the shower was more of a drip meaning that you got out of the shower shaking with cold. I estimate it would take 2.5 hours to run a full bath of lukewarm water. The rather rude maintenance man tried to insist this was acceptable. On arrival we tried to book a restaurant table, but were told there was no space that evening. This was a blessing - as we booked for the second night and were left waiting for 30 minutes to take our order (despite the restaurant having only 2 other tables occupied), hours later our food arrived and was incorrect. This meal was refunded by the hotel. The pub over the road (White Rabbit) has superb service, far better food and is much cheaper... We were not able to get our choice of breakfast times and were offered either 7:30 or 9:30, neither which worked and so we were forced to forgo breakfast on our first morning. Waking up to a 1:30am fire alarm was not a highlight... Most of the staff were very good, but were let down by some of their rude or incompetent colleagues. The only real plus is that they made our dog feel very welcome.
