    July 2024

We had our 42nd Wedding Anniversary dinner at the Fine Dining Restaurant of The Slaughters Manor House. Quite simply: MOST DISAPPOINTING! 1. Poor service; the server at our table was a kid who said it was his first day on the job! The kid didn’t know what the dishes were and what was in them! A highfalutin restaurant and that’s the best they can do? Really? 2. Lackadaisical menu; for a 3 course fixed prix dinner the dishes were mediocre, the portions underwhelming (and we are light eaters!!), and the presentation abysmal. 3. No follow through: We were told over the phone after we had made the dinner reservation that the Chef would offer petit fours to celebrate our anniversary. Nothing was offered but that’s less of an issue - an acknowledgment and some suggestions on how to make it a special evening for us would have been nice. Was it a disconnect? Was it just dishonest? Or was it simply incompetence and lack of comprehension of what service really means when one comes to a supposedly Michelin recognised establishment? 4. Poor value for Money: we spent $520 that evening for 3 people; it was a ridiculous amount to pay for what we received in terms of service, quality of food, portions, and enjoyment. 5. Misleading promotion: the fixed prix menu is akin to price gauging! To add insult to injury the food definitely DID NOT come up to the standards of a Michelin recognised establishment. We have had better food at gourmet pubs!!
