Pynes House is the perfect location for an exclusive, country house wedding. Set it in its own 37 acre park in the gorgeous Exe Valley, but only three miles from all the convenience of Exeter. Believed to be the inspiration for Barton Park in Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility, Pynes House is now inspiring couples for their perfect wedding day.
With a number of magnificent State rooms and capacity to seat 90 in the elegant Ballroom for a sit down meal or many more for a marquee wedding in the beautiful grounds, Pynes House makes the ideal year-round private retreat. During the summer, make the most of our manicured lawns, ornamental terraces and pretty woodland, and in the winter enjoy the cosy romance of our beautiful interiors, stunning views and open log fires.
Luxurious accommodation is available in 12 individually styled bedroom suites so couples and their guests can make it a wedding weekend, rather than just one day.

December 2024Recently stayed here for the weekend for my son’s wedding and what an incredible place Pynes House is!! Amazing bedrooms beautifully decorated with excellent facilities. Friendly staff who stopped at nothing to go the extra mile to make sure the guests had everything they needed. Nothing was too much trouble. The house and grounds are just stunning and beautifully maintained. The drive down to the house along the gravel road between the trees is certainly impressive and instantly made us feel excited for the weekend. The rain poured all weekend, but it didn’t matter one bit as there was plenty of room for all of us in the house and it felt very cosy watching the rain outside the window. It was also absolutely freezing weather, but despite this the house was heated very well and we were warm and cosy all weekend. We were particularly impressed with Phoebe the wedding coordinator who worked hard behind the scenes to make sure everything ran smoothly. Also the caterers, Pickle Shack, were fantastic and provided fantastic food with seamless service. The bar staff were brilliant too, there was rarely a queue for the bar and the drinks were made to a very high standard. All in all a 5 star experience which my family and I will remember forever.
