Hold your wedding surrounded by thousands of years’ worth of stunning history.
Built when Colchester became the first Roman Capital of Britain, Colchester Castle is the biggest surviving Norman Keep in Europe. Ordered by William the Conqueror around 1076, it is built on the foundations of the earlier Roman Temple of Claudius, dating back to AD 54-50. It is home to over 2000 years’ worth of History, from Royalty to besieges, imprisonments, and executions.
The Chapel is by far the most popular place that our couples choose to exchange their vows. The high vaulted white ceilings give the space a stunning romantic and peaceful charm, and the tinted natural daylight which fills the room through the stained windows, adding to the ethereal atmosphere of the room.
Named after Charles Gray himself, the Charles Gray Room is the most popular private space within Colchester Castle to hold a wedding breakfast. It holds up to 80 seated guests, making it an appealing and intimate space for you to spend time with your family and friends.

Went to visit the castle while Gia was there. While nice to see I was expecting more space exhibits to go with it.. The castles usual displays are great. Well laid out and explained. Although many of the children's interactive activities were missing parts so our children couldn't complete. It was a nice visit over all. With some amazing items on display.

We love our castle, Great for disabled wheelchair accessible, So interesting for all ages and great for children. Parties at the zoo are very good fun my son Tw loved them there. The coffee shop is good and the children love spending pocket money in the shop, And going around the grounds the gardens are breathtakingly beautiful The gardeners do an amazing job.
