Nice location and a good size room on the 4the floor with a view of the castle. Breakfast was standard but good. Staff was very helpful and nice!

We stayed during the busy Fringe festival, but the hotel managed well even when busy. The bed is very comfy and the room and bathrooms were nice. Some rooms have views of the castle and you can see the Tattoo Fireworks. Breakfast is very good with great selection and an option to order certain dishes off the menu. We are Hilton Diamond members and got a room upgrade and free drink coupons for the hotel bar. Only negative was two small lifts that were slow. But we used the stairs and saved time.

We attended a clan gathering in Edinburgh, and the DoubleTree Edinburgh City Center was a very nice host hotel. We enjoyed a lovely (albeit cramped) room with a stunning view of Edinburgh Castle. Daily breakfast buffet was excellent (although ordering any of the items from the kitchen sometimes involved rather sluggish service by the wait staff). Reception staff was outstanding. Workshop and banquet facilities were also top notch - fantastic Castle view, fine service, and good food. My only complaint was the rather cramped room layout, and particularly the bathroom - only one tiny towel hook? All in all, very very pleased with our stay.

Very nice hotel, amazingly friendly staff. We had an issue with our booking that was quickly resolved with a smile. And the cookie you get on checking makes the whole experience feel much more homely. You can buy the cookies which I would recommend :-)

Nice Hilton property in Edinburgh close to the Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile. We were here for 2 nights and the stay was comfortable. The room had adequate facilities including a refrigerator and coffee maker. We were offered a discounted price for the all you can eat breakfast at the Bread Street Brasserie restaurant attached to the hotel. The staff here were very cordial. Overall a great stay!

First off, the hotel staff are amazing. Easily the best part of the stay. The rooms are spacious, however a bit more drawer space for clothes would be nice. The bathrooms are small. If you have two or more people in room, there simply isn't enough room for shower kits and toiletries for everyone in the bathroom. The location is amazing. 15 minute walk to Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile. Fantastic restaurants in even shorter walking distance.

I recently stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Edinburgh, and while there are some positives, several aspects of my stay were quite disappointing. Pros: Location: The hotel's location is fantastic. Both the New Town and Old Town are within walking distance, making sightseeing a breeze. You can explore many of Edinburgh’s attractions on foot, which was very convenient for us. Cons: Cleanliness: Unfortunately, this is where the hotel really lets us down. The housekeeping service was subpar. Our room wasn’t properly serviced during our stay, and my mother even received a towel that was extremely dirty – which (unfortunately) she only realized AFTER using it. This is unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber. Their response to this issue was simply to point the blame to the 3rd party who is supposedly in-charge of cleaning towels. Room Size: The rooms, particularly the bathroom, felt cramped. For a 4-star hotel, I expected more space and comfort. The compact layout didn’t match the standards I’ve experienced in other hotels within this category. Gym Facilities: The gym is quite small and would only comfortably accommodate 2-3 people at a time. I was fortunate enough to have it to myself in the morning, but it could easily become overcrowded. If fitness is a priority for you, this might not be the best place to stay. Breakfast: The breakfast was just average. The selection could definitely use more variety, especially for a hotel of this standing. Nothing stood out, and I found myself wishing for more diverse options. Elevators: Another inconvenience was the slow elevator service. During my stay, only one elevator was operational, which often meant long waits. Overall, while the location is superb, I wouldn’t stay here again based on the cleanliness issues, small rooms, and lackluster amenities. There are likely better options in Edinburgh for the same price range.

This is a great location and a great hotel - the beds are super comfy, the Junior Suite was extremely spacious. We did have a problem with maintenance AND housekeeping. There was a plumbing issue with the shower drain. We were told on day 2 (of 5 day stay) that it couldn’t be fixed. We were given the option of changing rooms but that would have been a pain in the a#%. So we opted for just laying towels down to catch the shower overflow. Housekeeping, well I’m not sure what happened to housekeeping. Someone mentioned they were shorthanded. Dirty glasses left in the room, towels not replenished, coffee and water not replaced, Kleenex not replaced, just basics that should be standard procedure. They were very gracious once it was brought to their attention , but it shouldn’t have happened every day of our stay.

The hotel is well situated, just a few minutes' walk from the historic centre. The castle is probably 15 minutes away, up some steep hills. Our room had an excellent view of the castle and was probably as we expected. The beds were comfortable. Unfortunately, the check in was not ideal. We had booked 2 connecting rooms but they were not ready. When we returned an hour after the check in time, only 1 was ready. We had to wait a further hour to get into the 2nd room. We felt that the cost was high for the standard of hotel. I suppose that's the price in an expensive city, but be prepared. As a result, the standard of breakfast was fine but not equivalent to the price we paid.
