We stayed here one night in a 4 poster room for my birthday. Room was larger with a view of the gardens. The hotel is steeped in history with bags of character. The food was excellent in the evening,All freshly made with quality ingredients. The staff were excellent too, welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable about the fascinating history. Would deffinatley come back again.

Stunning hotel and location. Room adequate, a bit on the small side but only here 1 night on business so it was fine. I travel all round the UK for work, stay in hotels on a weekly basis so have a fairly good knowledge of hotels. Evening meal , good selection and prices are fair especially as portions are huge. However, the quality wasn’t up to scratch. My starter was soggy/uncooked in the middle and when mentioned to the waitress she said she would let the kitchen know. No apology or offer to put it right. The main was bland and not tasty at all. Maybe I just made wrong choices? Would stay here again but would be reluctant to eat here.

It's a lovely old historic castle/hotel. Set in a beautiful quiet area. Arrival was friendly. All the staff are great and hard working. The hotel is spotless inside and outside grounds. But I just don't love it and that's because of the room. It's small, very far from the main reception for a disabled traveller (the last room in the West Wing). The soundproofing isn't good. Lacks a few items like a fridge and a safe. But on the positive, it's clean, has a great shower and a comfortable bed and you have access to a pillow menu. You have a reasonably priced breakfast, drinks and dinner price all very reasonably priced for a Hotel. Overall we loved the Castle Hotel but we didn't love the room. I would still recommend the hotel but that you book a Castle Room (which I thought I did but that's not on the hotel it is between me and the booking platform).
