November 2024Fantastic place, both inside and out. Outside, there are beautiful grounds to explore, from which the stunning architecture can be admired. Inside, there's an array of exhibits and very interesting rooms. There's also a lovely little café, and staff are very friendly and helpful.

November 2024Thoroughly enjoyable evening spent in such an historic setting listening to the Aurora Strings candlelit performance in the church hall. Totally new and unique experience and one in which will remain long in the memory. I would certainly recommend visiting Ushaw not only to experience similar musical performance but to visit Ushaw House in general to explore the house and grounds and maybe even stay over.

December 2024Idyllic location for a comfortable no frills stay. Surrounded in gorgeous historic settings both the inside and outside of Ushaw give you plenty to explore in quiet contemplation. Accessible rooms are exactly that with large wet rooms and easy access beds. Despite the stone fabric of the building there is no chance of being cold as the rooms are heated perfectly. Plenty of space for hanging clothing etc and the rooms we had were decorated well. Lovely little soaps etc in the bathroom, plenty of towels which are really handy if multiple people in one room. Tea tray is plentifully stocked and there are lots of power points in the room to charge your devices. Basic breakfast - completely as advertised but perfect for our needs. Very reasonable pricing and includes a ticket for exploring the house during opening hours.

January 2025The beds are so comfy, the rooms and en suite are so spacious. The interior and decor of the place is beautiful. The 24 hour pre loved bookshop is so lovely and the lounge is very nice. The staff are all so kind and friendly. Would stay again and recommend to friends and family.

January 2025It's a shame this place is falling down. Still a lovely place inside with lots of history. I cannot understand why they do not allow weddings here. Since, I and other couples would have spent a lot of money on their wedding which would have helped with improvements. But they only allow dinners, I cannot see why they are prejudiced against weddings? As it's potential to be one of the best venues in Northest (Millions to help restore the venue.) I hope management/owner consider in the future to allow weddings and all dinners functions.
