Once playing host to Henry VIII – now it is your turn to feel like royalty as you cross the enchanted moat in the West Midlands.

A fine example of late medieval architecture, New Hall Hotel, Birmingham, is as majestic as it is magical. It started life as a manor house built by the Earl of Warwick as a hunting lodge in the 13th century, giving it the reputation today of being England’s oldest listed inhabited moated house.

At 800 years old, New Hall Hotel, Sutton Coldfield has a long history of offering exceptional hospitality to discerning guests. This 60-bedroom, four star hotel is widely held to be the most desirable wedding venue in the Birmingham area. This will come as no surprise once you have seen for yourself its 26 acres of richly timbered land, thick pasture and elegant gardens, not to mention the interiors.

Expect crenelated towers, mullioned windows and of course a drawbridge to complete the picture of enchantment that has brought people here for 800 years. As one of Birmingham's finest spa hotels, do not expect medieval draughtiness – New Hall is replete with contemporary comforts, whether it is our indulgent rooms, our spa and health club or The Bridge Restaurant with its 2 AA Rosettes. And those seeking an unforgettable business venue are unlikely to regret the day they brought their colleagues and clients to an event within our walls.

We welcome you to explore and enjoy this hidden gem of the West Midlands while experiencing natural and attentive service. Whether you are here for business or pleasure we look forward to making you feel at home.

Named after a former proud occupant of New Hall, The Sir Alfred Owen room is a purpose built function suite with inspiring views over the grounds. This is a generously proportioned space suitable for business meetings and training in Birmingham.

Me and my wife just want to thank all the staff at new hall hotel and spa. We spent the night at the hotel after getting married and I can’t praise the staff enough. Super friendly, great sense of humour in the restaurant. The food was delicious, room service was excellent. Beautiful grounds, relaxed swim in the morning. We will definitely be coming back for another visit, thank you all so much. We loved it The Johnsons.

Had the best experience! Spa was great Staff were incredible and nothing felt like an effort! Emma went above and beyond. Showed us around the building and talked through the history of it, completely unexpected but be we could not be more grateful for her doing this, as it added to the stay and made it more than a spa a weekend ! we absolutely loved it. We travel a lot and this is as by far one in our top ten :)

It's a really nice place with great rooms, a little tired in places but that's part of the old hall charm. Service was brilliant (shout out to Kris), staff lovely and non intrusive, although it all seemed a bit chaotic at times. Might have been the presence of Nigel Farage, which put me off my breakfast a little. Food and drink was great across the board. Beautiful grounds and spa. Although the individual scores are a 4, the sum of the parts makes it 5 stars.

Our wedding at New Hall this August was simply amazing. The whole process has been brilliant, our coordinator Becky was attentive, professional and so organised. Every phone call or email exchange we had was pleasant and actually fun, never stressful. Our menu tasting with Nat was perfectly done and all the food beautiful! Ashley practically became our personal barman and he was just lovely. Our wedding day was perfect, Izzy deserves all the praise and awards available for keeping me calm, updated and sane! She is a credit to your hotel, genuine, lovely and thoughtful, exactly what you need on your wedding morning especially! Continuing throughout the day she was by my side for anything I needed, any Brides or Grooms of the future are so lucky to have her. Sarah on reception was honestly spectacular! It felt like we'd known her for years, she was an absolute God send! John is also wonderful, really calm and attentive, dealing brilliantly with anything and everything we asked. Nat handled any issues or requests we had on our day with ease and efficiency. She truly felt like a friend and I can't speak highly enough regarding her dedication to ensuring our wedding ran perfectly. My mum fell quite early on in the day (her fault may I add, and she wasn't even drunk!) and the care shown to her, particularly by Nat and Sarah was of the highest standard. All of our guests have said it was the best venue they have been to and that is down to all the staff I've mentioned, plus the bar and waiting staff who were wonderful. Thank you New Hall.

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. However when it came to the afternoon tea itself things were not all great. It was my partner's birthday and they said they would do a nice additional plate with chocolate writing. It never came. That's relatively unimportant as I could've asked for it again but decided not to. What was really poor was that, it took ages to be asked if we wanted drinks and how the food was, about 30 minutes. And when we did order drinks, I checked back 5 minutes later, they hadn't started making them. I checked back because in that time they brought some newer guests their drinks, and also a bowl of water for their dog. I'd recommend the place as it's lovely. The food was good, atmosphere was nice. Just had a couple bad servers.
