Lovely, well-appointed room. Exceptionally clean. Staff were lovely throughout our stay. Only issue we had was that the TV was not tuned in properly with no way of resolving this ourselves. Also, the odd lighting and heating controls in the room didn't really work. Room was quite cold.

The staff were friendly and polite . Breakfast was excellent with great choice ,cooked well and presented nicely. The room was clean but the heating and bathroom extractor wasn't working. I'm sure this was an oversight that can be improved in the future by having house keeping report any issues to be addressed ,after they've prepared the room. Would I stay at the Clayton again?... Yes.

I visited this hotel for a business conference and had a generally positive experience. The location is excellent and very convenient. The conference room was spacious, well-equipped, filled with natural sunlight, and kept tidy and clean. The lobby and common areas were impressive, offering a variety of hot and cold drinks as well as snacks. However, the buffet lunch was a bit disappointing due to the limited choices, though the food itself was delicious. Overall, it’s a great place for hosting conferences.

This is a lovely hotel BUT. They've turned the heating off. Beautiful hotel, great rooms, good food. We only stayed one night. We got there about 7, because we got lost due to all the road works and building. Lovely welcome on arrival. We were offered a glass of prosecco but we're running late for a concert. On return the room was cold. Put the heating on and it didn't work,so went to bed. The following morning I asked a member of staff how it worked. They reluctantly told me the heating didn't work, we had a great breakfast, on checking out I told reception, and got a reluctant apology. Then we were told we can have a fan heater as we were checking out?? . This could be a fantastic Hotel. Such a shame.

I recently stayed at Clayton Hotel Birmingham from 19 Dec to 23 December, and it was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had. Upon arrival, the first room I was assigned was completely unacceptable. It was dirty, with dust covering surfaces, the toilet was not properly cleaned, and only one towel was provided for two people. The bed was missing a pillow, with only three provided instead of four, and there was only one electric socket on one side of the bed. Despite raising these issues with reception, no immediate action was taken, and I had to spend the first night in these conditions. The next day, after hours of waiting and following up with the staff, I was moved to an alternative room. While this room was cleaner, it still had numerous issues. The furniture was uncomfortable, especially the bed, which made it difficult to rest. There were no blackout curtains, meaning light from outside made sleeping challenging, and the heating system was not functioning properly, leaving the room uncomfortably cold. On the third night, the shower drain in the alternative room was completely blocked, causing water to flood the bathroom and spill into the rest of the room. Thankfully, the manager responded immediately and arranged for us to move to another room. However, having to move rooms twice during a four-night stay was highly disruptive and added to the stress of an already poor experience. The hotel is also surrounded by roadworks, which made access to the property difficult, and the parking situation was not as described, adding to the overall frustration. None of these issues were disclosed during booking, which felt misleading. Throughout my stay, I sent multiple emails to reception, management, and the general hotel email regarding the issues I encountered, but I received no response. The lack of communication and follow-up was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. This was one of the most frustrating hotel stays I’ve experienced. The constant issues, from poor cleanliness and maintenance to room changes and lack of communication, completely ruined the trip. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone and strongly advise against staying here. It fails to meet even the most basic hospitality standards, and I regret booking my stay at this property. Avoid at all costs.
