So much better than we thought, a beautiful building steeped with history. Food a bit monotonous, meat and same veg, cooked breakfast, toast and cereal. Rooms were not cleaned during our stay, our room had been updated. I would not hesitate staying there again as such a brilliant location. The lobby man was brilliant for a chat. Loved Liverpool as a destination, so much to do and see. People are really lovely.

A once grand hotel, which still has very impressive features, but now is in need of urgent refurbishment and improvement. The windows in our room were not capable of being closed, and the secondary double glazing was completely immobile, thus allowing cold winds and street noise to enter. The adjacent car park, however, was able to be arranged at the reception on arrival, and the breakfast was fairly good. The redeeming features of this hotel, however, are still worth a visit.

Stayed here for two nights midweek. Excellent location. Grand hotel with lovely large seating area for afternoon tea. Stayed in a twin room on the 3rd floor. It was very spacious. It is a bit dated but it was clean and was comfortable. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Would stay again.

We were suprised how big our room was, I think maybe you have to be lucky whether you get a decent room or not, but our second floor twin was great for the money we paid (less than 50 quid). Yes it was a bit worn round the edges but it was clean and the beds were comfortable. Staff were OK, photo ID needed to check in. Lounge downstairs is very impressive. We didn't try breakfast.

Looks art deco and has character Also has big rooms and the shower had hot water. However rooms have a feel of Romania in 1964. No decorations, TV slightly bigger than a stamp, no hairdryer and pay for WiFi if you use more than a moment. Was fine as long as you went out. To be fair I did that so the bar etc could have been great i just didn't check
