Opened in March 2018, Ivy Cambridge Brasserie sits plumb in the city’s university heartland. The kitchen serves the chain’s signature British classics and, as at the Covent Garden original, Martin Brudnizki has been a guiding hand on design. His art-deco theatrics extend to the Boat Room, which accommodates groups at a single long table (removable for drinks receptions). On a polished, oak-tiled floor, it is surrounded by colourful vintage prints and artwork that reference local academic and riverine traditions.

If you have never been to an Ivy Brasserie, I highly encourage you to do so. The Cambridge UK location is a definite due to the historic atmosphere surrounding the entire area. The service is what you would expect for a place like the Ivy and the food is absolutely exceptional. Make sure to make a reservation prior to visit because you may not get a table otherwise. Hats off to all the staff for their part in making this establishment shine.

Service: Fast, attentive service. Waiters are switched on, observant and ready know their job. Drink, food orders and other requests are immediately handled. Attentive and not pushy. They’re smartly turned out and polite. I’d even say, quite slick in their service. Food: Excellent menu, sophisticated and well blended layers of flavour, texture and presentation well executed with care any attention. Some dishes have an element of theatre in their presentation. Steaks are well cooked. Cuts are pretty good. Sirloin excellent. Rib eye on the bone not worth the extra (go with the sirloin) due to fat content. Taste is bang on par. Coffee and Stilton are also par excellence. Atmosphere: 1930’s art deco / almost dada colourful style. Good linen. Good silverware and crockery in keeping with the whole experience. Candle lit tables by evening and the lights lower by the hour. The atmosphere is relaxed yet somewhat formal. Easy to have a good time. Summary: class but not pretentious. Not Michelin star - but not as common and bland as your normal chain, even the nicer ones. Great food. Great complimentary service. Restrooms have the scent of amber. Service charge is steep - and automatically added to your bill. Recommended, for a treat as it is expensive for what you are getting (dinner). Particularly recommended if you like your food and wish to be treated extremely well in surroundings that deliver on what you’d say “is a seriously nice place”.

Excellent service. No worries whatsoever. We are an older couple who love the rich flavours and very tasty food. Alcohol is priced accordingly to being in the centre of Cambridge. (£14 gin and tonic. Cocktails) However a hearty appetite ( my two sons of 40 and 43) would be left hungry. No worries for us on that score.

Opulence! Posh! Visited IVY for breakfast on an autumn morning and it was enthralling. The service and ambience were top notch. The bar looked great and the upholstery is eye-catching. Great place to celebrate a special day. I had the special Breakfast, which was quite a bit for £20 and the overall dining experience. The eggs were perfectly poached, the hash browns were crunchy and the croissant was yumm! It was one of the few places in Cambridge that was open at 0830am on a Sunday morning. Worth the experience.
