As soon as we arrived we were warmly greeted by the charming Sophie and shown to our room. Whilst in our room I was struggling to find Internet connection but Michelle fixed the problem for me within seconds in a very professional manner. Before heading out to explore the city, we had our complementary welcome drinks served to us by Arthur, who had both myself and my partner laughing with his fantastic personality and humour. I love this hotel and will definitely be visiting again solely on how well all the staff have treated us.

Great hotel, fantastic location. We stayed in a standard double room. Looked great when we checked in/entered the room around 8pm. ( was lit by a lamp) the next morning looking around it was very dusty, the bath panel was very cracked and the seal around the bath was black in places. It didn’t spoil our stay but for the amount of money we paid to stay in that room I felt a little cheated. Also in the bar the walls were dirty by the windows. But over all a lovely place.

Went for Christmas dinner with work. Food was nice, sadly soup was returned due to large hair in it. But overall nice. Service was good, staff friendly but the cost of drinks was absolutely insane. Many tables left straight after food due to the cost of the drinks. We had our meal and left soon after, which was a shame. Not somewhere we will rebook for Christmas meal. Edit. As I do not drink wine or Stella, I cannot comment on those prices but £26 for 2 rum and cokes and£45 for a bottle of prosecco(same in Tesco for 9) yes, I strongly believe these are insane prices. Also, 100% a hair in the soup.

I booked this hotel because of the trusted Mercure name a central location. Unlike the other Mercure hotels that I’ve stayed at, this one has been kept in a dated timewarp. On arrival - no parking spaces! The receptionist says that you need to get them as soon as people checkout, so about 11am! You can’t check-in until 3pm! Hopeless! The corridors are dated, in desperate need for update. Carpets fraying and poor repairs. The bedroom feels like your grandmas living room! Terribly dated TV and the remote to forever to change each channel. All this and charged a premium price for this! Never again!
