The 5* rating refers to the presentation of the live event, it was flawless and as with Cineworld, such comfortable seats as standard. What did warrant a 1 star rating was the shambles created by the staff. Originally people booked seats in screen 11 and when I booked this auditorium it was almost full. On checking my booking the night before the screen location changed from 11 to 8. The person on ticket checks told me and my booking of 5 to go to screen 8 but no explanation why. When we got to the screen we found people in our seats and in general it was a free for all as seats was double booked and there was no staff to sort it out, thankfully my 30+yrs in the cinema business, I put my cinema hat on (metaphorically speaking) and sorted people out snd my booking of 5, I managed to find 3 seats in a good location for them and my mate and me sat at the front where no one wanted to sit, however it was so good. Cineworld do offer great presentation most the time however whatever the problem was, they should have had ushers in the screen to sort it out and not left it for the public to try, or in my case a busy body cinema person who can’t help get involved. I know the staff must feel so despondent , not knowing if they’ll have a job next week, but they need to keep the standard up otherwise they’ll not be missed if people only remember the bad things, people will stop going as they’ll chose alternative venues who offer the personal touch.

Cineworld Newcastle is a bright shiny place but be aware... It costs a packet relative to other cinemas. £23.98 for 2 adults to see Terrifier 3. £7.80 for one large popcorn. Once inside the screen was fine if a little dark. The surround sound was adequate. Plenty of toilets. Easy access via lifts. Lastly, it was built on the site of the old Mayfair so I'll deduct a point just for that.

Easily the worst cinema in Newcastle. Usually I go to Odeon or Vue, but unfortunately I could only find screenings of Heretic in Cineworld, so decided to give it a try. Small, cramped room with the view partially obstructed by the barriers in front of us. The entire screen was also flashing pink/purple from time to time which made it a nightmare to watch. Any kind of support: non-existent. Avoid like fire. They're continuously closing branches across the UK and I'm not surprised - the quality you get for the money paid is abysmal.
