The Riverside Museum, Scotland’s Museum of Transport and Travel is the new home for Glasgow’s world-class Transport and Technology Collection.
The Zaha Hadid-designed building is a masterpiece of architecture, a perfect complement to the stunning and exciting displays within. This exciting new attraction also offers several possibilities to clients seeking a topical and fascinating venue in which to hold corporate events such as private dinners, drinks receptions or meetings. The Museum’s magnificent collection can also be enjoyed exclusively by guests attending a private evening event.
Main Street is a magnificently atmospheric recreation of a typical Glasgow street spanning the years between 1895 and 1930.
The setting is enhanced by authentic period shopfronts and accessible interiors. A subway station and typical vehicles of the period are also situated within the Main Street area. The Main Street is a superb location with a real difference for a standing reception for up to 120 guests.

September 2024This is a fantastic museum about transportation. Located on the Clyde River. There was a tall ship moored outside where you can do a tour. In the inside, there are multiple examples of vehicles ranging from motorcycles up to very large vintage steam engines. There is a reproduction of an early Glasgow subway, as well as an early Glasgow street scene where you can walk into various types of stores and pubs and see what it looked like in the past. the museum has two levels and it has a cafeteria and a snack bar, as well as a gift shop. On top of all that it's free!

August 2024The best free museum I've ever been to. Fabulous displays and wonderful hands on activities for the children. Cafe on site with hot food at lunch ( downstairs) and also a smaller coffee/ drinks shop upstairs, but plenty of tables for own picnics x

August 2024Visiting the Riverside Museum was an incredible experience! The museum offers a captivating journey through history, showcasing a diverse collection of vintage cars, trains, bicycles, and more. The staff provided exceptional service, always respectful and helpful, which made our visit even more enjoyable. Best of all, admission is free, making it accessible to everyone! While there is a small fee for government parking, it’s completely understandable given the location. The place is surreal how the interior was built like the streets. Overall, this museum is a delightful place that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone looking for a meaningful outing!

September 2024My first visit to the museum, stunning building. Great variety of exhibits, but a shame that many of the vehicles are displayed high above the floor, and not as easy to view the finer details. There is an upper deck that you can walk over, but still not as good as when it used to be at the Kelvin Hall all those years ago, when I loved to visit in my childhood! The old street is good, and very interesting to look inside the reconstructions of old subway, shops and other old shops.

September 2024Well worth a visit, huge range of different means of transport from down the ages, with some good and interesting historical interpretation. If you are of a certain age, see how many types of vehicles you have travelled in or owned over the years. Well laid out and seemingly accessible to all. Obviously entry is free, but donations are more than welcome. There is a small entry charge to board the tall ship, outside the museum.
