November 2024"I don't think we can thank or recommend the DoubleTree as a wedding venue enough. From the moment we started looking at wedding venue options, I had my heart set on the Double tree from the start and I’m so happy that we stayed with our chosen venue! The rooms are absolutely beautiful and the bridal suite we had was just stunning and the view is unique and absolutely breathtaking. Our whole experience from the initial enquiry all the way to us checking out the day after our wedding was made easy and Louise and Lesley from the wedding department were very communicative and always answered any questions or queries that we had. Most of wedding party and guests stayed on site for two nights and this is where we cannot thank the staff enough as every single staff member whether on reception or working in the restaurant went above and beyond to not only make us, as a couple feel welcome but also our guests, which really helped to make our experience wonderful. We would especially like to thank David who was our master of ceremony and we have to say that he made everyone feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the whole ceremony and his communication regarding the running of the day was fantastic. He also checked in regularly with the bride and groom to make sure they were both ok and happy with how everything was going and that the guests were happy and well looked after. David had such a great sense of humour and was so down to earth. Carmen, Robert and David also helped us set up and did an outstanding job setting up for our whole day and evening . The day, ran fairly smoothly and they were so lovely and funny, they made us feel at ease. Our meal was delicious and the staff accommodated our guests dietary requirements and preferences, which was no trouble at all for them. the rooms were fantastic. We knew the staff would be great when we went for our taster session and the waiting staff were superb, same when we had our final meeting with the venue. Everyone on the day was exceptional. Thank you so much, everyone for all your hard work and dedication to our special day! Our wedding guests complimented how beautiful the venue was and how lovely and friendly all of the staff were. Our wedding day was perfect in everyway and we couldn’t have done it without the fantastic staff team at the Double tree ❤️💍 Tricia and Jamie Mr & Mrs Tavernor

November 2024The hotel was as expected for a double tree. The concierge was kind but they weren’t able to facilitate a late check out which was disappointing considering it’s a service they advertise. The worst thing is there was an expensive pair of pyjama bottoms which I left under the duvet in my bed. I called up about this within 20 minutes of leaving the hotel and asked the concierge to keep this for me. They called the next day to say nothing had been found at the room. Which makes no sense since I clearly remember having them in the room and it wasn’t in my bag when i left. Clearly the cleaners or somebody else has decided to take it for themselves. 🤮

October 2024Stayed for a night as part of a work trip to the area. Although the hotel is located in an odd location away from anything else, this setting does allow for some great views of the estuary. The hotel itself is bright, airy and the staff attentive. The reception and staff at breakfast were particularly pleasant and would try to be as helpful as possible. My room was spacious, well-equipped and the bed was particularly nice and firm. The bathroom looked nice on first glance, but then I found my sink was blocked and leaking over the floor...which didn't get fixed as they said, but this wasn't a huge deal to me seeing as I was overnight. Other downsides were numerous switches which didn't appear to do anything and there was a very bright green light opposite the bed, which was quite disturbing. However, the worst thing was an on-off humming noise from above that kept me awake a fair bit. I don't recall my Aircon being on, so it was quite strange. Breakfast was fabulous, with a great selection of hot and cold food and drinks available as self-service. I wish I could have stayed for more! The restaurant and bar area is pleasant and bright, with views overlooking the estuary. Niggles aside, this was a good place to stay, once you get over the location.

December 2024Live just around the corner so decided to visit 4pm for a coffee and quick bite to eat (afternoon tea stuff) Nice and clean place. Nice ambiance too. Great views. Annoying to have the TV on all the time! However the food and drink, were limited (perhaps it was the time of day?) and the waiter didn't know what a toasted tea cake was, so we ended up with an egg sandwich! I have always thought they would be good for afternoon tea but perhaps it needs to be booked rather than just dropping in and surprising them? Anyway it wasn't a cosy place for that sort of event so we won't return but I could imagine it would be ideal for a dinner or drinks affair.
