The Peter Harrison Planetarium, The Endeavour Room

The Peter Harrison Planetarium is housed near the beautiful Greenwich Park in the Royal Observatory. The Sky tonight show at the Planetarium was quite interesting. It was done by an astronomer from the Royal Observatory Greenwich. The half-an-hour presentation was made lively by the show presenter. It was more about night sky of London, some astronomical sights, various constellations with zodiacal sketches, black holes etc. The idea of the presentation was just not providing information but to kindle the interest of the participants. And well, it succeeds in that count. What was the oldest object you can ever actually touch? What do you know about shrinking forests, The heat wave, Antarctica’s melting ice, Melting glaciers, heat waves and the changing world? These are some interesting information snippets as you enter the area. As expected, there’s a cafe around. A place for igniting the inquisitive.

What a brilliant day! Not just my kids, I learned many new things from the shows. We watched four different shows for two days. They’ve all fantastic! Everyone worked there is so nice and kind! Seems they know everything about the universe! Brilliant team! Wish we could get more opportunities to go! 🥰🥰🥰🥰

This review is for ‘Teds Space Adventure’ shown at the planetarium and went with a four year old. My wife booked it, so had zero expectations going into it, but felt that it didn’t deliver on value for money. Ultimately we paid £30 for 30 mins. The animation was basic and rather amateurish. Story was fine, but tended to skip planets, and a rather rushed journey. I felt that the planetarium wasn’t shown in its true potential as but instead it’s just a basic, simplified animation of rocket, a Teddy and a plant. Shame really as there was a real opportunity to wow kids and it was missed.
