February 2025We booked a table at this Melville Castle hotel for lunch. It is placed in a vast beautiful state with long trees, a river and walking areas. The building itself is a castle with lovely rooms containing paintings, statues, and chandeliers. It is posh. I add some pictures here. The lunch menu was good. The pie of the day was chicken pie which I had. I wished they had steak pie. It was very nice. The chicken pie was tasty. The crust was amazing. The side vegetables were selected carefully to be colorful. Our waiter was very nice.

February 2025Such a great experience, from the staff to the little details in the room and throughout the hotel. We loved looking at all the different tapestries and paintings. Food was amazing, the fondant specifically was to die for and breakfast options were also fantastic. Overall really happy!

February 2025A lovely place to stay. The castle rooms were tasteful and comfortable, excellent shower and bath. The grounds were equally good and enhanced by the woodland walks for the dogs who were also welcome in the hotel. The hotel staff were excellent. If you eat in the restaurant, I would suggest to wear an extra layer of clothing as it is quite cool. (We were there in February when it was very cold outside). I will definitely go back to this hotel.

February 2025We would come back! We can recommend the stay in this fabulous castle. I have high expectations for hotels and all of them were met: the state of the property, cleanliness of the room, absolute quietness in the rooms, a great bed, nice staff and good options for breakfast. So all in all we had a wonderful stay!

February 2025Lovely hotel. Secluded but 20 minutes from the centre of Edinburgh. Far from the crowd. Great walks for the dog. Staff and service excellent. Food brilliant as well. Far, far better than your chain hotel.
