Located just on Edinburgh’s city centre doorstep, surrounded by luscious, enchanting woodland, Melville Castle is the perfect setting for your wedding. We invite our guests to spend time in the beautiful, tranquil setting of the historic and characterful castle.
When you arrive at the historic castle, you will receive a warm, red carpet welcome. From start to finish, your special day will unfold seamlessly with our dedicated and experienced team on hand. They will be available to assist and support you throughout your plans and preparations to ensure everytthing runs smoothly.
The hotel is licensed to hold civil ceremonies and partnerships with up to 90 guests. Our ceremonies can take place in the delightful garden area or the spectacular ballroom. For your wedding breakfast, we can accommodate up to 70 guests in the Viscount room. If you have a longer guest list, we can accommodate your event in our permanent marquee.
Melville Castle is available for exclusive use, allowing you and your guests to make the most of the whole venue for your big day.
When your day comes to an end, our beautiful Bridal Suite offers the perfect place to spend your first night of married life. Your guests can also find accommodation in one of our 32 bedrooms. The following morning, you can enjoy a delicious Scottish breakfast in the dining room.

September 2024Melville Castle was perfect in every way. The building was historical and beautiful, on lush and well kept lawns. Our rooms were the best of wonderful antique furnishings and modern conveniences overlooking a field with two shetland ponies. The bar was well stocked and the bartender knew how to make many fancy cocktails. Dinner was delicious and served with a smile. The cost was very reasonable and lower than several other hotels we stayed in during our 10 days in Scotland. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would visit again.

November 2024Beautiful grounds. Castle is beautiful. This was a place for me to relax and unwind which I certainly did...so peaceful. Food in restaurant was delicious. Gentleman on reception (Manager) was very polite. A walk on the grounds at this time of year is breathtaking- autumn leaves is stunning.

November 2024We stayed at the castle for one night and found the cost surprisingly good given we booked at such short notice. The double room was warm and spotlessly clean, with 2 bathrooms, and all the amenities we could need (including a kettle with teas, coffees and hot chocolate). Breakfast was absolutely divine, offering continental and cooked. The location was peaceful and scenic. We'd definitely stay again.

December 2024Had a wonderful stay to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The castle is steeped in history and set in picturesque grounds with lovely woodland walks. Our four poster room overlooked the front of the hotel and onto the horse pasture. The decor was in keeping with the era and the modern ensuite was brilliant. The staff were so friendly and helpful and even the staff we didn't meet obviously work hard at making guests stay the pleasure it is. Food was absolutely delicious and well presented. Any issues we had were resolved in a timely and positive manner. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Melville castle a big thankyou to the staff and running a marvellous hotel to stay. Looking forward to our next visit.

November 2024We held our wedding at the hotel, everything was perfect and we are so pleased we chose this venue, the food was amazing too. Everything ran smoothly thanks to Kathryn who coordinated our big day perfectly and she was so helpful from start to finish. Our guests were also really pleased with their rooms as they were all beautifully decorated, the furniture is older but in keeping with the style of the hotel. All the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble, they worked really hard to take care of us. Thank you so much for making our day as wonderful as it was. We will be back.
