Located in Walker House, a lovely stone-clad building within the famous Exchange Flags area of Liverpool, El Gato Negro Tapas is a great venue. From our restaurant and bar, you can enjoy stunning views of the iconic Nelson monument and Liverpool Town Hall. Inside, our restaurant has an elegant open-plan design and offers a variety of dining and drinking choices. The interior is beautifully decorated with a floral theme and a touch of Spanish summer nights, featuring a gorgeous botanical tree and warm glass orb lighting at the center. If you prefer dining outdoors, we have a fully covered and heated patio area where you can enjoy tapas al fresco.
With our private dining room hire experience, your party will be hosted by personal waiting staff throughout; we ensure you have everything you need at hand to enable you and your guests to enjoy the occasion. The dining room can accommodate 12-18 people maximum and can be catered to host birthday celebrations, hen/stag do's, wedding celebration meals and business events, with our fully accessible flat screen TV that can be modified for online presentations and various other forms of media to suit any occasion.

For certain reservations we require payment card details to secure your booking. These details are securely kept with a third party called Stripe and will only be charged if the cancellation terms are not met. We ask for 24 hours notice of a cancellation or reduction in numbers, and reservations that fail to give this notice will automatically incur a £15pp fee Please do not arrive with more people in your party than you have booked for; we cannot guarantee availability All tables are allocated a 2 hour dining time Please contact us if you are running late; we can hold a table for 15 minutes but will have to release it if we haven’t heard from you

October 2024I visited here a couple of years ago and thought the food was ok but a bit disappointing. However we went again last week and the food was amazing, the staff were excellent and there was such a lovely atmosphere. I certainly won't be waiting 2 years before I visit again.

November 2024We booked for the Tipsy Tapas for my birthday, r of us ate and drank here and it was amazing. The portion sizes of the tapas were really good. 3 per person is more than enough. The cocktails were great and you didn’t have to wait long for additional drinks. We will definitely be coming back

January 2025I booked through First Table, only to have our booking cancelled? They said that they hadn't updated the first table calendar and that my booking couldn't be accommodated, funny that, as you can still book through their web page!!!! Thus Leaving me 27 hours to find another restaurant. I don't often book away from my usual steakhouse, but I thought I'd give this a try... should have stuck to my usual cow shed!!! I can only assume they didn't want to give the discount you get through First Table?? Looks suspicious to me!! Very unprofessional and not caring that I had a limited time to find another booking so I don't let the wife down. If the restaurant read this, ' you deserve this review for your unwillingness to honner a booking through a mistake YOU MADE' if indeed there was a mistake? Wonder how many other people have been let down in this way???
