Covering over 320 acres and situated on the banks of the River Thames, Kew Gardens is conveniently located just 6.5 miles from central London and provides an alluring retreat from the city. With over 30,000 different species of plants, Kew’s living collection is the largest and most comprehensive in the world, making TW9 the world’s most plant bio-diverse postcode. There are over 40 different listed buildings and structures within the Gardens housing a selection of Kew’s living plant specimens, as well as the world famous Economic Botany Collection. Today our buildings are used for such diverse purposes as art galleries, exhibition spaces, education centres, restaurants and event venues.
Originally opened in 1882, the Marianne North Gallery houses the only permanent solo exhibition by a female artist in Britain and offers a spectacular setting for private evening functions. Beautifully restored in 2008, the Gallery houses tier upon tier of painting of flowers, plants, animals and landscapes.
