We had a wonderful stay at this location in June. It sits in a very walkable area near the university and the botanical gardens. If you have business at the university I cannot recommend this hotel enough! The location is perfect, it is near good food and even convenience stores. There are rental bikes available nearby that are nice for a pleasant ride through the parks and vicinity attractions as well. The staff were friendly. If we visit Glasgow again, I'm sure we will stay here.

The Grosvenor is a lovely hotel with friendly staff and a great location. Byers Rd is one of the most desirable locations in Glasgow for food and drink and is right outside the door. The stunning River Kelvin and Botanical Gardens are also across the road. So location wise this hotel has it all. The rooms are tidy and comfortable, although could do with some USB sockets on the wall, it is 2024 after all. I do feel the lack of parking spaces could cause an issue, although we got a space on this occasion. It does seem the price was bumped up, probably because of a Pink concert, meaning the cost was £200 more than it would be normally with a no refund issue. Other than than this we had a nice time.

This apparently was an old Hilton property (you can still see where the old sign was) and it seems they sold it for good reason: needs work. We arrived and found both elevators out of service with a sign "Closed for essential upgrades". While we were there for 5 nights there was no work being done on them. Rumor had it that they were not safe or did not pass life/safety testing. So, climbing 3 flights of steps (to get to floor 2) each time was tiresome. One day we had no hot water in the morning, and most other mornings it was just 'warm'. Bedside lamp made noise when on; another bedside lamp when turned off was still 'somewhat lit'. Headboard had stain. No pen/paper in room. Inconsistent towel exchange and every OTHER day we got washcloth. Breakfast coffee machine says it can make "Chocolate Delux" (hot chocolate) but didn't work: Staff confirmed they don't add the chocolate supply. Otherwise breakfast was reasonably good. Since we were booked here as part of a CIE tour, I cannot comment on the value for the money. (August 2024)

Not usually one to complain however the lack of customer service received when staying at this hotel was extremely disappointing. I called the hotel to ask whether it would be possible to have an earlier check, many hotels seem happy to at least check for you however the member of staff I spoke to certainly was not happy to check. Upon arrival at the hotel the man at reception was extremely grumpy and actually got frustrated with me that I wanted to use a different credit card to pay for my room than the one I had booked with originally - even though I hadn't yet paid for the booking as it was to be paid on arrival - reluctantly he allowed me to use my other card. Generally when checking in to a hotel the staff will politely advise you on how to find the stairs or elevator to take you to your room, I was presented with the room card and met with silence - very strange, I was actually quite shocked with the whole experience, it was as if myself and my partner staying at the hotel was a massive inconvenience to the staff we had contact with. Cannot recommend this hotel at all - IHG group hotels are far far superior and they genuinely look after you. Absolutely terrible experience from start to finish.

The location of this hotel on the west end, across the botanical gardens and very good restaurant scene, is amazing, but the facilities left much to be desired. The room would be quaint if it was not for the fact that there was mold on the walls, the plumbing was deficient, all but the shower clogged up. There was construction going on, which woke us up early every morning. The bar closed early by Glasgow's standards, and the television on the room had limited options as there was no cable, so the signal changed depending on the time changing the availability of channels. It could be an amazing facility, but as it stands now, I would not recommend it.
