My husband and I got married at Wortley Hall on Friday 8th November 2024, and we had the most incredible time. We keep saying that we want to go back in time and relive the day again and again. We booked our wedding in January 2024, and from the off we were pleased with our choice. Our chosen wedding package had a £1000 discount, which allowed it to be within our budget. Weddings at Wortley Hall may seem a bit on the pricey side without this discount, but it includes basically everything, with options to upgrade things if your budget allows. The food, drinks on arrival and for toasting, reception buffet and DJ were all included and sorted by the Hall, which took so much off our minds. We didn't choose to go with the preferred decoration vendor, but we were allowed to set up any decorations from 9pm the night before. We ended up just doing it on the day (we just brought vases of flowers) but it was nice to have the option of setting up the night before. The staff at Wortley Hall are so relaxed and really let you make your wedding day your own. Now all the boring logistical stuff is out of the way, I want to say that our wedding day was the happiest day of my entire life. We were beautifully taken care of by Karla, the wedding coordinator. Along with her colleague Ellie, she really helped us out when we had unexpected additions to our party the night before the wedding. Karla couldn't do enough for us, but it didn't feel like she was intruding. It's like she just appeared whenever we needed her! Karla is fantastic and seemed genuinely really excited for us. Chantelle (the head of the food and beverage team) was also wonderful and friendly, and made sure that all dietary requirements were catered for. Honestly, I just wanted to say that we had the best time, and we couldn't have imagined a more perfect day. Thank you for doing such a brilliant job!

We attended a wedding which was fantastic, the location is stunning with beautiful views across the open countryside. The staff were brilliant but they all appeared under pressure as there simply didn’t seem to be enough of them to cope with a full hotel. The wedding was brilliant, delicious food at the wedding breakfast and again in the evening reception. The bar staff worked tirelessly to keep everyone supplied with drinks but again a few extra on duty would have helped. The room we had was however way below standard and did not reflect the £145 a night paid, the light was full of dead flies, the decor was at least 20+ years old as it was the same paper we bought in 1997 and the ceiling full of water marks and cracked plaster. There was no latch on the door lock so with only one key and someone in the shower you couldn’t get in to your room. The curtains were hanging off the pole and looked ready to fall down at any moment. When we used the restaurant three of our choices on the menu were not available, as they had run out, and after ordering our 4th choice it was nearly 45 mins for three burger and chips ! I fully understand the immense cost of running a former stately home, just the heating and lighting must be a huge cost, however for a £145 a night and £70 for burger & chips x3 and a pint and two cokes there is a lot better available but clearly the convenience of being in the wedding venue is a deciding factor. I hope that the place gets a cash injection from a wealthy investor to bring the rooms up to the right standard to match the beautiful location and the tireless work the staff put in the make the couple and their guests wedding such a wonderful day. I overheard two young waitresses saying they came in at 10:00 am and were then asked to stay on till the event finished at 1:00 / 2:00am . So to the management of the place, the buck stops with you, your staff were brilliant, they were friendly and polite and worked incredibly hard but you didn’t have enough people in place and you are placing unnecessary pressure on your people, they will not remain focused on their guests if you do not have the right level of resource in place. You have a beautiful place that could be the best wedding venue in the area but please get it up to scratch to justify your room / restaurant cost!

Booked 2 nights for a weekend break with my fiancée. Writing this after the first night, we'll be checking out a day early today and going home. The standard double room was small and noisy, I could hear people outside making a racket until really late on, shouting and slamming doors and the small, barely held together bed was the most uncomfortable night's sleep I've had for a while (it came apart in the small hours). Dusty with cobwebs. As a double room, I might have expected more than one chair though where you'd put it is another question. There was a minimum of 15 minutes between flushes on the toilet. Hoping the £15 per head breakfast is decent before we leave. The hotel looks great on the website and from the outside and the staff were really nice, but I can't face the prospect of trying to sleep another night here, we'll be going home for a decent night's sleep instead. Certainly not a 4 star as Google suggests, barely a 3 in my opinion. Not recommended, won't be coming back (obviously). Update: The breakfast, at £15 a head is a disgrace. The hot part isn't, in fact it's left out on trays, under lights like a motorway service station. It was cold enough to pick up with my bare hands. The general manager said that it could be re-heated...no thanks. The general manager then claimed a freshly cooked breakfast could be arranged, why not just do that for the price instead of waiting for people to complain. General manager said we should have asked for another room on the night, but who wants to up sticks and move rooms in the middle of the night?. How about just making sure the room has been cleaned in the first place?. Refunded for the breakfasts we refused to eat and refunded for the following night that we refused to stay. When the highlight of a weekend away is being refunded because it was poor, it's no recommendation.
