March 2025Wonderful hotel with calm and tranquil surroundings. We enjoyed our stay greatly. Dinner and breakfast at the Watermark restaurant were excellent. Thank you to Anton for his service and hospitality.

March 2025Had a lovely one night stay for my 50th birthday! Absolutely loved every minute of our stay, a lovely escape from reality, only wished we had stayed for longer! Would love to wake up here every day, so already planning to visit again, and maybe make use of the spa facilities this time

March 2025I came here for lunch hoping for good food and a nice location. While the location delivered, the food is pedestrian at best. The meat was tasteless, the salads dry (when were they prepared?), desert tasted like it was out of a bottle. It's really not worth the money. A 'regular' pub offers better food at better prices. If you must dine with the views, have a drink and eat elsewhere.

March 2025We booked for a one night stay, to see relatives. The location of the Hotel looks lovely near Frensham Ponds with the wild birds coming and going. All the staff at the hotel were most pleasant and helpful, the food (evening meal and breakfast) tasted lovely and was hot and quickly served and we were well looked after. BUT !!!@ The room we first given, "Heather", above reception was a great disappointment... it was dark, depressing and tired with a view over the car park. All this we could put up with for one night....but the smell was disgusting.... within minutes my eyes and throat felt like they were reacting to something and it's not an exaggeration to say I was nearly gagging. Looking around the room for the smell I could only deduce it was some industrial grade carpet refresher. I also found in the corner behind the curtain some white mould/fungus so thought maybe that's why the carpet chemicals had been used. The vents in the ceiling were also full of dust. (Unfortunately I was in such a rush to vacate the room I didn't take any photos) We went to reception and were immediately given a different room "Yew" (a free upgrade). This room was better, again though still very tired with stained carpets, curtains and scorched lampshades, and again smelt strongly (but not quite as bad) of the assumed carpet refresher as before. My wife and I discussed the situation and as we had already driven nearly 300 miles that day, and were meeting relatives not seen for 30yrs we were not really in a position to go home (which we would have done otherwise) so we opened the windows and kept the heating on high. After a pleasant evening with relatives we returned to the room which had aired out a bit... but still took a while to get off to sleep ( the bed was very comfy though) I woke up many times and was confronted by the smell, at 3.30am i stood by the open window for fresh air! This is the worst room we have ever had. I can't understand why saturating carpets in toxic smelling scents seemed like a good idea.....unless there is some serious underlying problem. Unfortunately I can only say I won't use Frensham Ponds Hotel again unless the rooms are refurbished and I am assured the toxic smell has been dealt with. Home now and scrubbing shoes and clothing to get rid of the stench!
