This was a great place for a short break near Cheddar Gorge. We loved the gym and the pool, we didn’t dine in for dinner but breakfast was good, as you’d expect for a buffet style. The reception staff were very welcoming and friendly. The rooms were not the most modern but were perfectly adequate for a short break.

The hotel was originally an Edwardian Manor use which has retained many of its period features which is a nice touch. The hotel close to Cheddar and the coast. A nice quiet location but perfect for various types of venues or couples choosing a get away in a peaceful location. I found the staff to be most welcoming and helpful in particular Amanda in reception and Oscar in the dining room. The food was excellent, complements to the kitchen staff. The hotel is spread over a number of levels. Be warned, there is no lift. My executive suit was nice and included WiFi. There are a host of facilities such as a lovely indoor pool, sauna, etc. I'm surprised the hotel is only rated three star. Would I go there again? Yes every time.

Beautiful hotel, fine timber panels coat the building and the balcony has a splendid view. The rooms have a lovely old fashionable feel with lovely facilities, the pool and spa is divine and the staff are ever so pleasant and lovely. Fine craftsmanship and patterns fill the corridors.

Fantastic hotel, Great value. Up there in the top 1 or 2 for gym equipment and facilities I've seen. Location is good and staff are friendly. Very nice food too. Dated but comfortable room with a view. Would definitely come back again.

Somewhat disappointed. The main building seems lovely. We had intended to use the spa on the afternoon of arrival followed by dinner, but on enquiring about dinner when I called the night before our stay, I was told that due to a private function, there would be no meals available after 6pm. This hotel was in the middle of the countryside - we had been aiming for a relaxing stay. So we decided to eat elsewhere before checking in, and since we were leaving in the morning, we had no opportunity to use the spa, despite this being the main intention when we paid for the rooms. The breakfast was nice in the morning - buffet style. Would have liked to have other options for eggs other than just scrambled. The block where we were staying had a strange odour, and my room looked over the room where the private function was. This was quite noisy until midnight. The room’s decor was dated, and it was on the small side, but serviceable. I imagine it would be an ideal place to stay to attend the private function, provided you don’t find the smell off-putting, but if going for a relaxing weekend with the intention of eating there and using the spa, check if there is a private function before booking (I can see more were planned)… For the purpose of our trip, I wish we’d booked something like a premier inn close to where we ended up spending the day, due to lack of dinner availability. Rather than driving for 45 minutes to stay in a small room listening to a disco.
