A visit here is highly recommended. Many rooms to explore with a host of information - Shrewsbury over the centuries, archaeology · geology & fossils, industrial history. The building is smart and maintains its normal high standards. For elderly and disabled a very smart lift is available so no need to struggle up steps. Cafe has an inviting selection of cakes the apple muffins were delicious. How about that for free entry!

Terrific museum. Free to enter and all displays are presented with thought and easy to understand. Terrific way to spend a couple hours exploring history.

First visit to the town and headed to the Museum and Art Gallery. It's in an old building with a contemporary makeover. We started off in the Roman exhibition which brings exhibits to life with excellent info panels. We ended up in the cafe for a light lunch. We'll certainly be back to see more.
