A lovely hotel. The staff were very courteous on our arrival. The room (executive suite) was very grand with a lovely bathroom and plenty of space. The Hotel is set in a charming part of Reading, with easy access to the town centre. The Reading room restaurant serves wonderful food. The Halibut or Stone bass is something I would highly recommend.

Beautiful hotel and suite, especially compared to surrounding hotels. Amenities from Penhaligon. Breakfast was great (a la carte with a limited continental buffet). Parking convenient although it could be a maze to find the reception from the car park. Main issues were: - unable to contact reception with phone in room. Quite inconvenient if you are in the house building which is external to the hotel! - issues in bathroom. Toilet and sinks kept getting clogged and staff said they will see to it but nothing changed - due to the building being relatively old the walls seemed to be quite thin

I was given a room in the House located at the back of the hotel. The room was just a basic room, nothing 5 star about it. The hot water was barely warm, the toilet seat was loose and not secured to the toilet. It was clean though. My friends were given much bigger rooms at the same cost. The bar "closes" early although when my friends and I turned up at 10:30pm for a final drink we were told the bar was closed despite the fact the barman was making cocktails for plenty of other guests who were drinking. The reception staff were friendly and helpful.

Don't be fooled by the promotional pictures, it was dark in the building and the narrow lift was very depressing. I checked in in January when the hotel reception was warm, but walking into the room was a different story. Only a very small heater was provided and there was only one blanket; I even had to wear a heavy coat all the day. Even woke up freezing in the middle of the night. Absolutely not worth the price and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone nor would I stay here again.
