March 2025Be sure you book a room with a table at extra cost of you need a table to work. Plenty of parking and it is free. Quiet area. Restaurant is very basic. Might need to go and eat out if you are looking for a proper dinner. Breakfast great and good quality

March 2025Had a disappointing stay at this hotel. We stayed for 1 night and upon arrival thought it looked like a lovely hotel as the main entrance / reception area is lovely however the rooms and service is a bit of a let down. The rooms are quite old and dated which could do with a bit of a modern makeover, the shower our room was only luke warm which wasn’t a nice experience in the morning and there was an unpleasant damp / stagnant water smell in the bathroom of our room. Also tried to get some water ordered to the room but the staff said the card machine doesn’t work at night so I couldn’t even get this basic item. My partner also ordered a pizza earlier in the evening and we could tell it was just a Chicago town frozen pizza that was made instead of a fresh pizza. Don’t think I’ll stay at this hotel again after this experience.

April 2025Overpriced and disappointing Room was so small couldn’t walk round the bed bathroom not clean paid over £300 for 2 night no complementary water in the room but you can buy it for £2. We also thought breakfast was included for both morning only to be told it was only for the 1st morning really disappointed by the staff’s attitude. Newbury is so Beautiful but this hotel let’s it down !!!!!!

February 2025Disappointing Stay – Poor Cleanliness & Service We stayed at The Lodge in Newbury on the night of February 22-23, 2025, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had in the UK. Upon arrival, we realized we could have booked our stay £5 cheaper through the hotel’s website, yet we accepted the more expensive direct booking, expecting better service. However, things went downhill from there. We were initially given Room 18, but the bed sheets and pillows were dirty, and the toilet seat was unclean. We reported this to reception and were moved to Room 17, only to find the bed linen in an even worse condition. After yet another complaint, reception finally placed us in Room 16, which was acceptable, but by that point, the constant moving and back-and-forth with staff had already ruined the experience. The disappointment continued at breakfast. Despite paying £14 per person for breakfast, I was told that if I wanted a cappuccino, I had to pay extra at the bar. The English breakfast was terrible—the mushrooms tasted like they came straight out of a can. To make matters worse, the staff showed no concern for guests, barely acknowledging us, as they were too busy on their phones. Overall, this was a poorly managed hotel with unacceptable cleanliness standards and terrible service. It put a damper on our stay outside of London, and we wouldn’t return or recommend it to anyone. Avoid this place if you’re looking for a comfortable and hassle-free stay!
